For years they could get too high school recruits and were always a top pick for young stars. Now for two years in a row they are renting a QB. Former ACC middle of the road guys from non power house programs like Duke and WF. Strange days. As Sports Illustrated would put it signs of sports apocalypse.

Once upon a time Notre Dame was a bit better than the worst programs playing college football. They were not well known for NCAA major violations and they were a good enough school they seemed a bit different from the schools who were eternally on probation for this cheating deal or that cheating deal.


Now they tamper with players and pay enough money that they get whom they want out of the transfer portal. And yet, Lil Ole Clemson owns the lifetime series we have with the Irish, we have won 3 nattys to their 1 natty in the last 40 years or so, we have won more games than the Irish over modern history, we have had fewer coaches than ND and by about any measure related to football programs, they are behind the land grant school from SC in football.

This week Clemson topped the Irish for the National Championship in soccer and some inflated ego ignorant fool ND fan posted his lament that they 'lost the National Title to the team with the lowest IQ of any they played this year.'

ND is sort of a sad, rich has been these days. Oh, they will stay rich. But the best is not yet to come for the Irish. Those glory days are long long gone.

Well its almost impossible to develop QBs slowly as underclassmen so they are ready to contribute after 2-3 years these days for anyone with any talent whatsoever. Easier to throw money at guys other poorer programs have developed that are looking for a payday.
