Stimulus check

Someone posted on here a couple days ago that they were tossing any check they got in the trash. Well I see that it will not be classed as income or taxed, so I suggest if you get one and do not need it, cash it and donate to local food bank or other charity helping people who are out of work and do need more funds!

Finally with a president who is looking after our own country's interests, I've decided to send it back if I don't have to use it. I'll keep it for a while to see how employment goes. But if the president can look after me, I can help him look after the country as well.

They don't need it. Send it somewhere that is working to save lives.

You can find better ways to help our fellow man/woman/ chIld than our government can. If you receive a check, consider spreading it with people or organizations that you trust and believe in. I understand what you do is your business but just throwing out my 2 cents.

What check? It's 2020 -if you file taxes it will probably be electronically deposited into your checking account. How is anyone going to just return it or toss it? LOL.

Who’s tossing their checks?
Mar 29, 2020, 12:34 AM
|

Is it the Republicans that suddenly turned socialist when time to collect their check... or the ‘not my prez’ folks who are happy to collect their check?
If you don’t need the check or are opposed to it, just donate to someone more worthy.

The republicans work, therefore they have money in the bank to fall back on, and can survive this crisis. The dems cash their checks gladly, cause that’s what they do.

Personally I’m planning to donate my check to some of my friends in the restaurant industry. They are the ones who need this the most. I still have a good job and really don’t deserve this money to be honest.

Could I use it, sure. Do I absolutely need it, no. I have a job, even though I am at home I am still getting paid. Donating some of it seems right thing to do.

It's a tax credit for 2020. The payout is based on

2019 or 2018 AGI, however. There is a chance you could receive a check based on your 2018/2019 AGI, but then make too much money in 2020 to quality and owe part or all of it back.

but make less in 2020 and receive the credit with your 2020 refund next year.

I figure I’ll use it to pay the $1200 I have to pay in vehicle registration tax that our county charges for some ####### reason. Oh, the state of SC is also charging me $800 on a one time “roll back” tax since the land my new house is on was considered agricultural before I moved onto the land. I think it’s funny that I will be giving the federal money, right back to the state and county that is funded by my own money. How does this make any ####### sense????

The high registration fee is a personal property tax

I haven't bought a car in SC since the mid-80s, but even then it didn't seem like a good tradeoff for the cap in sales tax. The farmstead to homestead penalty is pretty common, though. I believe it is a three-year penalty here - to convert to homestead, you have to pay the difference in taxes for the previous three years.
