Was Liberty trying to blow that game?

They couldn't throw a strike and somehow gave u a 7 run lead. The horseshoe is stuck wayyyyy up there for the Coots, even if they have a new coach. It is sickening.

it can be tough to close out a good team- especially when the crowd starts getting into it and adding pressure.

ha - I don't think they wanted to lose that game.
That's baseball. When you play good teams, you are going to feel pressure and sometimes it doesn't work out. Happens all the time in the majors- so of course it's going to happen in college too.
Baseball is a different sport.

Feb 17, 2013, 4:24 PM

Liberty had to bring in a pitcher to try to win close the game out that pitched 30+ pitches Friday night- and how had all of one start last year. IN other words, he's a go to guy this year but has really not much experience.
That's what you face this time of the year - you are depending on guys that may not have much experience.
You want to win these games- but you want your guys to get experience too.

there is very rare occasions you lose that big a lead. most of the time it's because you lose the aggressiveness, not the "pressure". and i'm not sure that was what was lost!

it's not like it happens all the time- but in college baseball odd things happen all the time.
The reason I said "pressure" (and I'll stick to that description) is because the color commentators were saying their pitchers seemed rattled - and they screwed up the last play of the game by letting the ball get away from them.
That wasn't due to not being aggressive. That was due to having the bases loaded- the crowd screaming their brains out- and the pressure affecting a young Liberty team.

and the cash.

of course the "garnet" commentators were saying that. what else would they say, that the "outcome" will cover liberty baseballs' total expenditures for the rest of the year?

They should pay him dearly for it. That program was embedded with losers and quitters for 100+ years and he changed the mindset of the baseball team and football followed the lead.

OUr baseball team has had stretches of being very good- even back in the 1970s playing for the national title against Arizona.
Tanner came in and got it back up - and maintained it at the highest levels.
