With Westco’s breakout against App State surely State has taken notice and are now game planning against him. Double coverage, etc. So who steps up and has a breakout game? Someone should be open. Is it Moore’s turn?

Yep. No more heavy box and also NCST has struggled against the run so far

Nc states run defense is bad. We have Williams, Briningstool, Brown, Moore, Turner, and Stellato.
If we take care of the ball Clemson wins by 3tds

They can't double everyone, well they could but that would be hilarious. Send every one deep and then QB sneak for 20 yards a pop before anyone turns around. Really though, if you double Wesco, then they will struggle to cover Moore, Williams, Bringingstool and Turner. Moore and Wesco give us a true WR1 and WR1A, the others are very effective when they aren't the primary focus of the defense. Trying to cover AW with a nickel is a losing proposition. LB's can't stay with Bringingstool. We have something to build on and maybe get us back in the National Media talk!

If we have bottled whatever was flowing last week... as excited as I was I still haven't heard how we could do whatever we want against AppSt, while being able to do so very little the week before.

UGA id number 1 team in the country with a top 5 defense. App st is not a very good team this year. But saying that week 1 not as bad as all the dumpers stated. Week 2 not a great as the pumpers stated. I feel like we are a good young team hopefully by the end of the year we can grow into one of the top 5 teams.

And with the new format losing that Georgia game doesn’t hurt as much as it used too. Win the ACC Championship and they are in. Then it is “any given Saturday” time!

The NFL still can't cover him. (Only the Miami-Dade traffic cops.)
If they can't keep up with Wesco, he gone.

Wesco, Moore, Williams, Brinningstool
Take your poison. They are all high threats, add in Mafah on the ground and you can see Clemson's offensive is now full across the board with high level playmakers. I don't think DCs can focus on taking away one player. They will have to focus on Cade and making sure they have the right matchups on the out sides.

The way the dawgs handled him was beat him up on the release. Takes him out of the play right off the bat. App State didn’t have the physicality at DB that UGA does. Nancy will be somewhere in between. Probably get called for a few holding penalties but overall keep him from running through the back end unmolested. Riley has to put him in motion to get better separation off the line. Wesco will be a true beast with another year of physical maturity.

NC st DC, Tony Gibson, is part of the 3-3-5 stack family tree. I don't expect Cade to take the top off but to hit quick out routes that forces 1 LB out of the box for Mafah to have a big game. However when we see those DBs blitzing...oh boy big plays coming IF Cade can make the proper decision.

You can't double Wesco with a dual stack..Turner, stool, Williams, and others will compromise your whole plan...did you notice that our cats were outrunning the football...nice touch to slow down and take one in the basket...on a stack let PM chip someone's tooth coming out of the backfired and he will be more open than Vanilla Hairless tax cuts!

I know bubble screen has become a bad word around here, but honestly, now that we do have a legit deep threat, it opens up the short game. We can actually threaten to throw deep, get it to Williams or Moore on a screen and get positive yardage. If they cheat up, we can burn them downfield.
The deep threat is what was missing the past few years to make the short game actually work.

You are correct! It was actually strange seeing them attempt a deep pass. Hitting on a couple was even more surprising.

the middle of the field on passing should open up all facets of our offense going forward. We can clearly dink and dunk - now we've shown we can ding 'em deep alongside.

It definitely is pretty exciting… For once in a long while I think the offense can dictate to the defense instead of just taking what the defense gives them.

who can stride like that. I expect him to still have a big catch or two against NC State with a healthy dose of AW and Moore.
Now that he's not a secret, I selfishly want to use him in NCAA '25 as well

I’m sure they are working on a solution to that deep threat they saw. When a defense schemes to take something away, they sacrifice elsewhere. An OC’s job is to exploit that and make them pay.

dude caught 2 nice passes, one would have been picked off by a Power 5 safety, and the other poorly thrown where he made a remarkable adjustment to the ball. The catch whee he fell at the two yard line was a thing of beauty, it was thrown about 2 yards behind his route and he effortles adjustd his route. That is what makes this kid special.
Those of you that think we will be scoring at will for the rest of the season may want to temper those expectations, App State secondary was aweful.. The passing lanes and throwing windows will not be as wide in league play, but yeah, Wesco can take the top off a defense and that will prevent teams from stacking the box like they have for the last 3 years, thus opening up more curl routes and helping the running game.

What's more problematic for opposing defenses is CK's accuracy and ball placement
If he continues in his current vein of throwing darts all over the field and leading WRs and throwing them open they can't defend that and Wesco is fast enough if you're not on his hip in when the ball is delivered he's pulling away.
Against AppSt our Oline won their individual battles We see now if you let Cade have time to set his feet he'll pick you apart.
His accuracy looked really similar to how Sam Hartman ( WF ) sliced and diced our defense that day in Winstom - Salem
Defense now will need well disguised blitzes to confuse Cade and not allow him to get in a rhythm throwing the football..
Now is when we'll see just how much CK has improved his game and reach a place that separates the good QB from and a future NFL QB.
It's the place DJ never arrived at likely will not
I think CK takes that step.
