Special Happy 76th Birthday Wishes to the US Air Force

My dad was a captain in the Army. I was very little at the time, but I still remember trips with Dad to the Greenville area Army Reserves office as he served in the reserves as well.

Growing up I was convinced I wanted to serve as well. For years I planned to serve in the US Air Force after going through ROTC at Clemson. Eventually, I got to Clemson, but I never did ROTC. That said I still feel a special appreciation for all of those who serve or have served! Thank you for your service to this country!

Happy 76 Birthday US Air Force!! I know today must be a special day for our Air Force Airmen – both current airmen and veterans!!

“The Department of the Air Force was created when President Harry S Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947. It became effective Sept. 18, 1947, when Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson administered the oath of office to the first secretary of the Air Force, W. Stuart Symington, a position filled by presidential appointment.”

We fly over China on a regular basis but don't advertise this fact.

Now we are missing a fighter jet. Pilot ejects after setting autopilot. Must be headed to China. Refueling in flight. Just part of the Biden/China deal. Maybe repay for the weather??? Balloon.

He was a Chaplain and growing up I saw where unless you had flight status you were a 2nd class citizen so I went Army ROTC. In 1978 I was assigned to NORAD and an Air Force Maj. Gen. was teasing me about being in the Army. I told him that as a student of military history I was sure he was aware that the air arm of the military was originally part of the Army Signal Corps, of which I was a proud member. They couldn't meet the high standards of the Signal Corps so we had to put them out with the lesser members of the Army like the Infantry, Armor, and Artillery. It turned out they couldn't meet the lower standards of the rest of the Army so we had to kick them out as their own branch of service. For 171 years this great nation never lost a war and since we created the Air Force we hadn't won one (true at the time).

The General advised me not to bring that up at the upcoming Dining In at which most of the Air Force officers would have had a little too much to drink. I said "Sir, I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid." There were only 2 Army officers assigned to that part of the NORAD staff so we were greatly outnumbered.
