Sorry if this has already been asked but why is UVA

hosting a Super Regional on SCAR's field? Weird enough that the regional was there but SCAR was not the home team. Now they are hosting a Super that their team is not even in. I am sure that UVA would love to have a home field advantage and to benefit from the commercial activity generated by a Super.
Edit: Thank you for your answers. Weird to me that a participant might not want to host, but we ARE talking about UVA. I understand how Columbia hosted a regional that SCAR was not the #1 seed in, and I understand that bids must be submitted to host super regionals, but is there any precedent for holding a Super in a stadium that does not have a home team participant?

Are SCAR's facilities superior to those of UVa? What about

stadium capacity? Those would be my guesses.
Also, UVa may have declined to host because of COVID.

As a Tiger who grew up in southeast VA and never moved back, UVA is an ultra-woke liberal PC campus. Used to be a great school in 1960's and before until it was engulfed by Washington D.C. -- guess things happen that way.

Basically UVA's student body today consists almost entirely of Yankees who relocated to Northern Virginia. What a contrast to the "Southern Gentleman" image they spent years cultivating.

UVA didn't have a choice to host as they were not the highest seed in the group of 4 teams.
ODU was the 11th overall seed in the tournament and would have hosted but their facilities were not up to par for hosting a regional.
I watched several of those games and they mentioned it on the broadcast. It has nothing to do with UVA or the ACC and therefore isn't an embarrassment for either.

Correct. I'll be there again Saturday. Rather enjoyed walking around and getting jawing comments from coot fans for having on the wrong color of shirt or a Clemson hat.
One reminded me we didn't even get in... I told them they didn't have to remind me because we got an ex coot at the helm.

$$$$$$. Don't you have to bid to host the game?
UVA has a fairly new stadium and won a Natty since SCAR. Don't think stadium quality or size is the issue.

Like the other poster said due to COVID the NCAA decided to pre-select 20 sites and UVA was not one of em because they didn’t submit a bid. I think it’s a total failure on all accounts. There was no reason for the NCAA to change the normal process of the tournament at this point we’re pretty much opened up almost everywhere. I don’t know why UVA didn’t bid, but they’ve consistently been on the too cautious end of the spectrum when it comes to COVID so I’m guessing that’s the underlying cause. If you’re a high school recruit it’s gotta make you think that UVA isn’t really all in for supporting the baseball team if they didn’t even bother to submit a bid.

Judging by UVA and ODU attendance, you don't need a large stadium. The coot crowd only supports their coots. Won't be much money taken in with this series located in roach town.

The actual underlying issue is that ODU was the highest seed in that group of 4 and they did not have facilities that met the NCAA need for hosting a Regional. It has nothing to do with Covid or UVA or the ACC.
