On Dabo "Not Getting Stupid" and Situational Football

Despite the fumbles, a lot of things we do that effect the game are indeed "stupid". Not having our power back in there for short yardage and goalline situations is "Stupid". Going with the 3 man rush on 3rd and long situations to let the QB have all day is "Stupid"! I don't care how you spin it, they are making situational football harder than it has to be and overthinking every lil situation instead of keeping it simple and going with the higher percentage plays. I don't even care about the OT blunders, because in reality, those 2 games should've never even gotten to OT.

Sometimes the 3 man rush on 3rd and long is the right call

When the Off plays max protect and you rush 3, then your 8 should able to cover their 3 with no problem, yet we didn;t.

And Shipley is a good short yardage rb that fights for the endzone.

Frankly, the lack of situational awareness in mostly on Klubnik. After the mistake against FSU, this time the coaches called a straight hand off without an option, and he still blew it.

I think this team plays stupid, like TB's teams often did, but I don't think most of it is on the coaches. I think the primary players, esp Klubnik, lack situational awareness and killer instinct. Thus, we find losses where wins are sitting around in plain sight.

The 3 man rush never works period, I don't care how many you have in coverage, somebody gets opened when they have that much time. It showed in the final 2 mins of the 1st half of the FSU game as well. Cade's fumble in that game that turned the game around came after the big Mafah run and more times than not, a player gets subbed out after a big play to regain his energy. They know the Oline is an issue, even more reason to have a power back and/or Jumbo package in there in short yardage. You go with the higher percentage plays...period. Running the shotgun when you only need half a yard and have crappy blocking is a recipe for disaster as it is.

Not our 8. They will manage to bust the coverage.

The one that gets me almost every game is running plays that go to the boundary, instead of the field. Why try to run to the short side of the field repeatedly?

D is usually stacked toward wide side.
