Someone straighten me out on this coin thing

If you click to give an award, do you have to have the number of coins for that award in order to give the award and they are deducted from your total? And does the other person get the coins you had? If I don't have any coins , can I award coins to another?

Yes, you have to have the number of coins for that award in order to give the award and they are deducted from your total.
Most of the awards give the other person a few coins, but not as many coins as you spent to buy the award.
You can award coins to another person for free by giving them TUs. One TU = one coin.
