Someone Please Help Me

I just took my last exam and in a month will be moving to Indiana for my job. I've lived in Charleston my whole life other than the past 5 years at Clemson. How does one cope with moving out of the best state in America and so far away from Clemson football?

They don't. Give up the job and look for something closer to home.

Start a Clemson Alum club in Indiana, setup viewing parties, make regular treks to Clemson and then look for a job in SC.

It's called Tigernet and TV

It is also called maturing and expanding your horizons. At age 35 I had never lived anywhere over 3 1/2 years continuously. Then kids a new marriage and my job kept me in one place for 26 years. When I retired I moved to the only place I had wanted to stay in those first 35 years.
It used to be I had to look up Clemson football scores in the complete scores listings as they were seldom ranked so no write ups were available in most papers. While in Southeast Asia it was Tuesday morning before I could find the scores in the "Stars and Stripes." Due to the magic of broadband, satellites, and Al Gore inventing the interweb I am able to have more information on all of Clemson's sports living in Colorado, than when I was at school.
Enjoy the great opportunity in front of you and remember if you live by the motto "Best is the Standard" you will have a great life.

There are a lot of good people in Indiana. Many a lot

like us Sandlappers. If you can get over the flatness, and gray skies and ground all winter, and the fact you're moving away while we have the best team in Clemson history, you might even survive.
Bright spots? Bigger whitetails. You'll actually see real snow. Not as far from God's country as some places. Some of the best "Yankee" around. And best of all, it will make you REALLY appreciate Clemson when you get to come back.

There is no spring. One day you go from 50s to 80s and it stays till fall which is a nice season. Lack of sun day after winter day is very trying

who came from the upper half of the state say half the year every thing is gray and you can't even tell where the horizon is. But why would we want to tell this poor young guy this? [in a whisper] Let's just keep it to ourselves.

First of all Congrats on graduating and having a job. Moving away from home will make you grow in ways nothing else will. There's fine folk everywhere, you just gotta be one of them. Good luck!

There has never been a better time. Get your tickets early for the Notre Dame game in South Bend.
Get a good internet service and keep up with all things Tigers.
I would say find Hunter Johnson's family and watch the games with them, but that might be based on uncertain circumstances.
Connect with the Clemson Club in Chicago or start your own.
Make lots of money so you can fly to the games.

Where you live and how you handle it emanates from you as a person. I am sure as a Clemson grad you are prepared to get along with people everywhere. As for me, I absolutely cannot and could not ever handle cold weather and turned down several promotions. I never went any further north than North Charleston, S.C. but God closed a door and opened a window. It turned out very financially rewarding. Were i in your shoes i would either turn down the job and look for work where i was happy. You could also take the job and begin an immediate job search for something more pleasing. REMEMBER, the single most important thing in a job is that you be happy. Everything, including money and your field of expertise comes after. If you go in unhappy & a thousand miles from family it will turn to disallusionment and sometimes even hate. Think it over carefully.

Best way to cope with this is to find a job in Charleston (my hometown and current home)

tbh the job market is out of hand now. Employers have not raised starting wage high enough to afford rent (in a safe location) anywhere within 20 miles of downtown.

Thank y'all all for the advice. I guess luckily I'll be in the southern part of the state about an hour from Louisville so I'll get to see Clemson play there every other year.

I stayed because my family, big fat wife and six kids, and I had deep roots in Picken County. I would loved to have had the money but we would have been miserable had we moved.

Welcome, young Tiger

Welcome to Indiana! Fortunately, the recent success of Clemson football means you will probably get TV coverage of most (if not all) of the games. Again, it depends on your market. I now live in the Indianapolis market and have converted my wife and in-laws into Tiger fans through steady exposure. (Even though I didn't attend Clemson myself.) Just be prepared for a good dose of IU Hoosiers and UK Wildcat coverage too.
Like the differences between Lowcountry SC and Upstate SC, there is a lot of variation in climate and culture depending on where you live. It will certainly be different from Charleston, but since you said you are moving to the southern part of the state, you can expect some cold without the long, bitter winter that some are projecting. I'm confident you will find plenty of good folks there.
Best wishes as you start your career and again, welcome to another good, livable state.
P.S. Wear the Paw with pride!
