First off, I have spent decades NOT viewing gymnastics as a real sport. I only saw it at the Olympics and avoided it even then since if the result was dependent on judges, it was not a sport to me. The athleticism as was undeniable. I could not do a single thing they could do except fall, and I would fall poorly (comically, at best). But a sport, not in my eyes. Just like figure skating. Great TV ratings but not a sport.
Well, now that the Tiger Paw is involved, I am paying a little more attention. Similar to Lacrosse, Clemson did not start the team up just to have another sport, they started up to excel.
If you have access to Clemson+ through IPTAY, they have posted some videos on the team. The first two episodes of Building Legends ae there. They givs you an idea of the startup process. (Link will probably require login)
There is also a Hot Mic video with Lilly Lippeatt that was also very informative. As an ME grad, I doubt I could have managed my time well enough to do that many things. Additionally, I would never be able to handle an interview that well. Extremely well-spoken.
