Soft Coverage: Why? Is our DBacks that bad or hurt?

Wiggins was told he wasn't needed anymore... so, he moved on. Mistake on coaches! Soft coverage: Is our secondary so spent or incompetent that they can't cover others as other teams cover us...closely??? Why does Venables feel he can give up so much yardage that yield so many 1st downs? NCSt drove us down the field at will and could have won doing so... I don't understand his logic. Yes, he is the coach and I am just wondering why the game plan?

maybe you could blame it on the fact that state was good on offense. it aint rocket surgery.

Relax fans. Schedule favors us now and hurts can be healed. This is college football.

Trapp should not have been out there

That is what most fans are upset about. He is not ready and matched up against a guy 6+” taller than him. Credit Finley for seeing it as he knew he would be open.
We all love BV but I have no idea what he was thinking with that move.

that qb played exactly the way he played last season versus us and his year to date... underneath stuff which was very simple pitch and catch for 2.5 quarters. and all the throws went for exactly 10.5 yards. they methodically marched on us for 5 minutes+ on most drives, and we were lucky they ever decided to run esp on a hobbled star rb

Did you miss the part about how we we’re without Mark Fields and Marcus Edmund and that we were so thin at CB that we had to put our starting WR in the game on defense?

i doubt that'd been the game plan had we had edmonds and fields.. i think BV was willing to give up the underneath stuff in between the 20's and hold them in the redzone.. instead of playing tight coverage and getting beat deep for TD's all night..

Re: My opinion is like you know what although

i'm thinking about an adjustment to come up early in the 2nd half and play bump and run coverage. Since State QB was throwing short yardage then everything is on timing and quick releases. This doesn't allow pressure on the QB. If you are afraid you are going to get beat deep then i say lets see if you can put it on the money every time and your receiver catch it every time. QB would have to hold the ball a little longer thus giving extra time for the defensive line to get to him. I know the defensive backfield is thin and young but you have to put the pressure on them to make plays. They came to Clemson to be the man then they need to play like the man. On a side note i noticed tackling was somewhat sloppy. Need to get back to hit, wrap, hold on because helps coming scheme. You have to know that every team going forward will test the pass coverage and pass coverage scheme in a big way. Question is will the play, plan or alternate plans make the remaining teams pay dearly to challenge the Tigers defense. Time to turn it on in a big way as the season and careers are winding down.
