Yes, they did, but I would have to live at least another 15 years to get back what I paid in. But that was the plan with the SS withholding tax when it was made law and a part of our income deductions wasn't it, set retirement age high and most people would be dead before they could get back what was owed them. When you put a large number of educated men and women in a room voting on how they can get as much of the working people's paycheck as possible, you can bet that congress will be voting on that before they leave to go on vacation!!!

To sum it up. The US government is taking your money and giving it to those that don’t earn it.

Actually Nixon is doing it via law he enacted. Nixon's law made social security increase associated with inflation. So Biden raise inflation to record highs put more money in the check. But it's fake money since cost of stuff went up same percentage.

Well, the inflation is the reason for the increase (cola basically). Unfunny part was dementia Joe claimed credit for the increase….and he was right for once…unknowingly.

Biden still wrong since Nixon was one that put the inflation raise into Social Security. Biden taking credit for fuel prices coming time too but not taking credit for raising them well over $5 per gallon.

Jimma Carter administration, our company gave out an across the board 15% "Cost of Living" increase. We lost 6% in actual spending power that year anyway, inflation that year was TWENTY ONE PERCENT.
We may be headed back there. And this time, unfortunately, I don't see a Ronald Reagan swooping in to save us. If Trump is not convicted of a crime which would make him ineligible to run, and he wins the Republican nomination, he pretty much dooms us to 4 more years of this. Him running is basically handing the election to the Democrats.

Oh, I remember... mortgage rates were 18%... to put that in

perspective: a 30-year fixed rate on a $200,000 house at 3% is $843/month. At 18% it is $3014/month, almost 4 times as much. Almost impossible to buy a house... yeah, I'll be renting for a while. LOL
Also, I couldn't afford a Clemson class ring, the price of gold was at an all-time high. (I was class of 79 but technically didn't graduate until 80. Long story.) I didn't get a ring until my wife got me one for Christmas years later...

Trump 2nd best President turned us around like Reagan did after Carter. Trump's Economy was only stopped by China Virus created by Democrats and China. Fauci actually admitted that. They stole the election but changing voting laws in state illegally. The last 4 states were still voting after election was over. Biden stole mid term with his student loan forgiveness that he knew he couldn't do without the House. Pelosi said that day 1 when Biden announced it. The only way to safe next 2 years is put Trump Speaker of the House. Like they did years back with RINO Ryan. Terrible choice with Ryan but good with Trump. Trump or DeSantis would be great. But I doubt Biden finish his term Democrats gonna try to remove him move Harris to President.

Democrats will lose 2024. Biden is crashed the country so bad. Reagan beat Carter but even is it wasn't Reagan would have lost. Carter only won election cause Ford pardoned Nixon.

The best part is the spouse gets a $250 SS death benefit upon your death. Not even enough to cremate some one.

It's been out of money for many decades. The Social Security you pay in now is going to pay retired people getting it now. Only true way to shore of Social Security to take US Congress and Presidents pension fund liquidate it put the billions back into Social Security account then have bill can't be touch except for social security benefits. Step 2 take the funds Democrats and GOP has made via insider trading put it in SS fund. Step 4 deport all illegals to CA and let it fall into Pacific
