Thoughts on mens soccer

So we had a nice 2-1 OT win vs NC State.

Finally the team played with urgency in the last 20 minutes or so. I think the team should play like that more, more reckless. This team isn't very good when we are "controlled".

things we need to do to continue to win:

Involve Gayton - Our best attacked and most versatile. He can finish and can play from anywhere around the 18. Feed him and let him work.

Unleash Metcalf - Metcalf is always the fastest player on the pitch for either team with the ball at his feet. Let him attack that right wing more often. About once a game he will explode his pace and burn the defender and whip in a devilish cross. That needs to happen more, a lot more. More like 5-8 times a game. It's dangerous, the defender cannot contain it.

Dia needs to touch the ball - Last year Dia was a vital player using his pace. This year i'm not sure he has touched the ball all year. He has a more stationary role now and that does not fit him.

Don't play Robinson - Hate to say this, but this Freshman has struggled mightily. I dont see any talent there, slow on the ball, heavy touch and dosen't know what to do with the ball. Give him an off-season to regroup

Limit Kavita - He is prone to errors when he tries to do too much.

and overall play more out of control. It throws the defense off and will create more goals. He scored two goals vs NC State on out of control sequences. He just don't have good enough passers to play a systematic breakdown style, in fact no team in college soccer is good enough for that even though they all try it. Get a little careless whisper in the team and attack

they have individual talent

like nobody on NC State's team stood out more than any Clemson player.

Do they attempt quick counter-attacks

or is this a "let it develop" style. I imagine it depends on personnel.
