Including lack of institutional control, but they DO fire him for "one" call to an escort service?
Got it.

if you read any of the stories, it was a "pattern of unacceptable" behavior. the one call is what Nutt's lawyers discovered. it snowballed from there.

The said truth is that Old Mrs. probably knew already, but once it became public knowledge, it had to take action.

Highest impacts of wrong are glossed over yet a relatively small infraction he's fired. I think they will use him as a scapegoat.

calls (plural allegedly) and recruiting violations ARE related a la Rick Pitino.
I'm sure they're on solid legal ground for terminating his contract for some breach of a morality clause but I get the sense they're worried he wasn't calling for himself...

I dont think Freeze was the one that made it.
I think the University understood the hammer was coming down. It wasnt just Freeze doing the recruiting violations, it was an entire scheme set up by many people up in the administration of the University. Freeze's bosses knew the NCAA hammer was coming, they needed a fall. The coach, being the one directly in charge of the football team and the only link between the corrupt admins and the team, is the logical fall guy.
The phone call is one of many ways someone could fabricate evidence to place the brunt of the guilt on Freeze. As long as none of the Adminsitrator's names are named in the fiasco and its only Freeze implicated as the "architect" of the scandal, the people who are really pulling the strings behind the Ole Mis scandal, the real architects, will walk free.

like they're taking the high road, so they can look back and say "What?!! You mean Freeze was actually breaking NCAA rules too?!! We are shocked, shocked I say!" The administration was likely eager to have ANY reason they could find to show him the door - and voila' - there it is.

Doesn't he have underlings for such dealings or at the very least a "ho phone"?
Just ask Pitino.
