So here's how I see things...

Oct 25, 2013, 11:16 AM

I don't want to hear about how bad last Saturday was. It was bad, and no one has to continue to point that out. Everyone knows it.

Last weekend saw a lot of chaos, and left us at #9. That's huge. We are a one loss team, in the top 10, with 6-7 weeks of the season left. All possibilities are still out there.

Currently, the following teams are ranked ahead of us... Alabama
Oregon
FSU
OSU
Missouri
Stanford
Miami
Baylor

If you figure a one loss Clemson team will be ahead of one loss OSU, Missouri, Miami, and Baylor... then that would put us #5. Those teams could lose any given week. I'm not going to put their remaining games up, but they are not easy. Even Ohio St., who everyone says will run the table, can slip up against anyone.

If Stanford loses again, we would be ahead of them. Suddenly we're at #4.

I firmly believe we can get to this point, and it could happen at any time.

Now, that leaves FSU, Oregon, and Bama. Personally, I think it's ENTIRELY possible that two of these teams could lose two games.

FSU has Miami, UF, and ACCCG left. I don't care how good they looked against us, it's happened before.

Bama has LSU, Auburn, and SECCG left.

Oregon has UCLA, Stanford, Oregon St., and Pac 12CG left.

Don't county ANYTHING out yet.

We actually may have a better chance of getting in the BCS title game than we do of getting in the ACCCG.

I won't county anything out

However, I think we will city out the national championship game.

That was cuty way of to 'state' it. +1.***

Well, I've thought about this a little.

Oct 25, 2013, 11:25 AM

The pollsters are not going to drop FSU behind us unless they lose two games to unranked teams. I can't imagine that happening so I'm saying it won't.

If that's true then the only way we get an invite to the MNCG is in a rematch with FSU. After America ignore the Bama/LSU rematch I can't see another rematch happening in the MNCG either.

We'll finish the season ranked in the top ten, perhaps even as high as 4 or 5 and win out. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Well, I've thought about this a little.

Oct 25, 2013, 11:36 AM

I'd personally say that'd depend on where we are. Let's say we happen to get some luck from the teams above losing games and get back to being #4, then FSU was to lose to Florida (highly unlikely but still...anything can happen). I'd think in that scenario, they would actually drop below us. Another scenario I don't wanna think about yet...what if everyone but FSU loses a game, and set us up for a rematch vs them in the MNC....hmmmm.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd love playing this same FSU team again.

Oct 25, 2013, 11:42 AM

Not a snowball's chance in hadies that'll happen but I'm with Dabo on this 5 for 10 thing. I wouldn't have said it in front of a mike, what a dummy.

I think Tajh let go of the steering wheel and though Dabo and Chad had corrected this many times before they couldn't fix it last weekend.

LSU and Alabama played an overtime regular season game. It wasn't a blowout. That's the only reason there was a rematch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well said, but I don't think we'll get as much help

Oct 25, 2013, 11:29 AM

as you think. I could see Bama and Oregon losing one game, but not two, which we need them to do.

I agree... but I think the difference this year is that

Oct 25, 2013, 11:33 AM

the normal teams who get in with one loss already have 2... LSU/TAMU/UF/UGA....

There are five teams in front of us that we jump if they have one loss (Stanford 2), period.

So unless one of those goes undefeated from here on out, we are down to needing either FSU/Oregon/ or Bama to lose 2 games.

Longshot, but not as impossible as other things that have happened.

Seems to me...

Oct 25, 2013, 11:34 AM [ in reply to Well said, but I don't think we'll get as much help ]

Our hope is FSU losing twice in which case we'd pass them in the polls and make the CCG.

I don't think we make the MNCG without that happening unless somebody thinks they give us a rematch against FSU.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They may not have a choice...

Oct 25, 2013, 11:40 AM

No way a one loss Baylor, Mizzou, Miami, or OSU is ahead of us. No way a 2 loss Stanford is.

Oregon's schedule is not that easy down the stretch.

Bama's schedule isn't either, b/c Auburn isn't bad.

FSU's is the easiest, but they do have Miami, UF, and ACCG.

it's been that kind of year....

You just can't trust voters. They all get their information from ESPiN. You sure can't trust ESPiN because they sell commericals and don't care who suffers as long as the stockholders are happy.

I don't think we would need Oregon OR Alabama to lose 2, we just need them to lose one at the right time. If we are 4th or 5th by the time Oregon loses a game, we would likely pass them. If we are third and Alabama loses the SECCG, they aren't going to put a team that lost their last game in the Championship game. Late season losses always hurt you more.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

After our beatdown, I'm not at all confident that we

Oct 25, 2013, 11:34 AM

would move ahead of all of those hypothetical one-loss teams, should we win out.

to move ahead of them.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think any of those 3 teams are losing 2 games.

Oct 25, 2013, 11:42 AM

Especially given the fact that you are already assuming a Miami loss, which would most likely come at the hands of FSU when they play in Tally, and a Stanford loss, which would almost certainly be against Oregon.

If FSU doesn't lose to Miami (and they won't) and Oregon doesn't lose to Stanford, then where are they going to lose two games?

Bama may drop one somewhere, but two?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Miami has VT... Stanford has Oregon St and Oregon

Oct 25, 2013, 11:46 AM

Oregon has Stanford, UCLA, Oregon St., and Pac12 title game...

FSU has Miami, UF, ACCCG

Bama has LSU, Auburn, SECCG

we deserve to be about 15th instead of 9th. no way we are getting into a BCS game. It wont happen. Maybe if it was a close loss but not with what we did.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not bloody likely

I only want two things from 2013 now.

Beat GT by 50.

Beat usuc.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty good points, but one thing you didn't consider...

Oct 25, 2013, 12:02 PM

....is how far will any of those ahead of us fall should they lose one game. If Bama loses one game, they fall ahead of us. Same with Oregon and FSU (or should, since they beat us.) I don't see us ending up #1 or #2 in the BCS rankings again this year, regardless of who loses ahead of us. Unless (and this is a big IF) everyone ahead of loses 2 games and and we win out. Then and only then would we have a chance at the NC. Just my opinion...but a valid one nonetheless.

I didnt even before last week. I suspected there would be an oops game. I did think we'd beat FSU at home though. well maybe we can find a way to beat the coots

Re: So here's how I see things...

Oct 25, 2013, 12:28 PM

absolutely incorrect. At the end of the day, a 1 loss auburn and a 1 loss ucla will DEFINITELY jump Clemson. And in your outlandish scenario with oregon and bama losing TWICE (ain't gonna happen), Aub and ucla would prolly be the teams to beat them. Also, a 1 loss Oklahoma team probably jumps clemson. Also, an undefeated Texas Tech eventually jumps clemson. remember, in your scenario they would defeat baylor.

Fact is, Clemson's remaining schedule only offers 1 real team to make up any BCS ground. And that is SC.

Your scenario is beyond far fetched. The bcs title game is gone and everyone other than you realizes it

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

with UGA and USuC fading, I don't see a BCS Bowl***

Oct 25, 2013, 1:18 PM [ in reply to Re: So here's how I see things... ]

I agree that it would be unlikely, but it's certainly not as "outlandish" as you say. Florida was 10th at this point in the season a few years ago and ended up in the Championship game. And how in the world would a 1 loss Oklahoma team jump Clemson? They are ranked 15th right now. And their loss was to a Texas team that will likely be 7-5 at best by the end of the season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oct 25, 2013, 1:21 PM

For example...

TT does not have to beat Baylor for Baylor to lose. They still have OU, OKST, Texas A&M and Texas as well.

Re: not only can you not read

Oct 25, 2013, 2:14 PM

Then whomever is reading it to him has a point. IF the coots don't improve they will not be ranked when we play them, then we have to hope for a good matchup in a bowl game to have a win over a team ranked in the final top 25. And teams with no wins over a top 25 don't make the MNC game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So here's how I see things...

You won't make the BCSCG without winning the ACC. Plus, you play two FCS teams, which will hurt down the stretch.
