So, ACC 4 wins Big 10. 2 wins

6

Maryland beat UVA and Rutgers beat Virginia Tech. Other than that the ACC won 4 games versus the "vaunted Big 10"!

Yet, people will get on here and view the Big 10 with such admiration. I don't get it.
What some of those schools did when players still wore leather helmets; is not relevant now. Or when championships were voted on, does not matter now!

On the field; I don't see why they get the hype "at all"!

The ACC, not the Big 10 is where the NFL comes to get the majority of its players only behind the SEC in fact.

I don't get people's infatuation with Big 10 football, period!

Big 10 is OSU and Michigan. The rest of them are mostly irrelevant.

SEC is (for the past few years) Bama and Georgia. This year it looks like it's just Georgia. ACC has been pretty much just Clemson for the better part of a decade. Now it looks to be FSU and (hopefully) Clemson. There are legitimately 6-8 schools that are consistently good. The rest are consistently decent or worse.

Not to mention we have an awesome record against the SEC this year too!

I don't think most people admire the teams in the Big 10. What most people admire is the massive pay out they get in TV revenue each year. Their revenue stream is double what the ACC gets, and that is what people like about the Big 10.

Agree, it's the money but here's my rub. Duke beats us and crushed northwestern. No respect. Had meechigan or pstanku, osu that beat nw like that, it'd be an all world W and said team would instantly be a playoff team. Same with unc win.

The Clemson narrative has been we play weak teams. B1g narrative just the opposite. That's why b1g teams seem to choke in the playoffs.

and well they should be.

Clemson would be in much better shape though had we somehow procured 3 other schools as part of the University:

1. Law school
2. Med School
3. Journalism school

Our niche in society would have been much different with one or all of those programs.

Northwestern had a projected win total this year of 3 wins. They are terrible and everybody knows it. Northwestern also loss earlier in the year by roughly the same differential to Rutgers, nobody talked about that one either.

Rutgers beat NW 24-7. I don't think that is a total blowout compared to Duke destroying NW 38-14. Also, that last TD by NW vs Duke was at garbage time when they had all third string defense in with less than 2 mins left.
Duke is not getting the respect of being a a good team. Actually think Rutgers is decent and will give Muchigan a pretty good game this weekend. Take the scarlet knights with the 24 pt spread.

Clemgalalways - we always vibe. This! This is exactly my point.

Michigan and Ohio State(1-4 st) can beat up on NW, Rutger, Maryland, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, etc and get a ton of credit toward their playoff push!

Nobody wants to give us credit when we beat up on Wake - even when Wake or UNC or Miami are ranked. It's crazy!

In the last 23 years current ACC teams have won 4 National Titles(Miami 01, FSU 13, Clemson in 16 & 18) compared to 1 National Championship by the Big 10(Ohio St. 15).

Unless it's some crazy "new math" 4 is more than 1 to me.
And, what have you done in the modern era is all that matters, i.m.o. Want to go back - Pitt has 9 claimed National Titles then.

Agree. Here is the difference. Fox and NBC pushes Big 10 because that is where their money is. ESPN pushes the SEC because that is where their money is. No one cares about the other conferences period. All of the journalists at ESPN, Fox, and NBC vote in the AP poll. There is the difference.

"Clemson has Saved CFB" was the quote.

I agree with you.
Clemson has saved college football was quoted by a few of the TV talking heads after we beat Alabama.

Folks around the country eventually grew tired and sick of seeing Clemson as well.

Nobody wants to see the same teams in contention yearly. What Georgia has done is awesome for them; but I think not great for the sport. Hardcore, will watch no matter what fans, aren't affected. But, marketing firms have influenced rules changes and pushed agendas to attract wider ranges of audiences. Which is why if you touch a WR it's P.I. Look at a QB too hard and it's roughing the passer. Points and high powered offenses are more marketable and more marketable is what they pay for.

Who brings the eyeballs.
You just can't make it only about the team that has the largest alumni base and fanbase. Because now, it's politics instead of sport.

ACC teams this year have a 4-3 record vs the B1G. Thats good. But wins over Purdue, Indiana, and NW arent all that significant. I thought NC over Mn was a good win. I thought Mn might challenge NC a bit. But Mn never, ever has a decent qb. The B1G’s 3 wins are vs VT (2) and Va. So, not too impressive either.

I believe every conference is built the same. You have the top 2 dogs then those on the cusp that every now and then have a miracle season, then you have your doormats. SEC Has bama and jawjaw with LSU and auburn peaking their heads in there, then the rest of the middle group ie Tennessee, Florida and ole ####, then the door mats, Usuck, ole #### and Vanderbilt.
ACC SAME Way. Top dogs Clemson and FSU doormats in Wakeforest and Syracuse and BC. Big has OSU and Meechigan, and door mats Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern. Pac 12 same.
Is one's middle group better than the others? That's the question to ask.

@crCreektiger1® The question about the middle of the pack is a good one.

How to measure it though?

I see "Jankers" on here talking about rankings often in terms of "which conference is best"! I can't respect the rankings a bit. Last year had it broken the way many of the talking heads thought it might; LSU would have gotten in the playoffs with 2 losses.

Clemson plays a team with 19 starters back. An All-American caliber QB included. On a Monday night and on the road we drop out of the rankings after consecutive dominant wins.
It's bravo, Sierra.

What happens when those teams play is a better indicator!

Same scenario if Ohio State or Michigan were to lose to let's say Illinois or Indiana(terrible football programs in recent years). They would only drop a few spots because of "perception"!

It's crazy and I for one am not like some of the voters who are apparently giving "nostalgia grades" to Big 10 schools based on what they did way way way waaaaaaay back in the day.

Minnesota is a decent team. They finished with 9 win seasons the last two years with top 10 defenses. As you would expect, they are big and physical on both sides of the ball; run the ball well; but their qb is very inaccurate.

Very pleased with the way the ACC is starting the year.
