Sleep Apnea sucks. Guess I'll be watching Magnum PI

And fighting sleepiness all day tomorrow. Anybody else have the kind of apnea that as soon as you doze off, you get incredible chest pains and it takes a few seconds to get breathing to work? CPAP ain't working tonight. Fun getting old. Go Tigers!

I dont have it but a friend tried that mouth guard with the hole in the middle and it helped his snoring and apnea after a couple days. Have to get used to it I guess and he used some type of mouth lube (seriously). I travelled with him for fishing tournaments and I was the one always tired trying to sleep over snoring or Darth Vader sounds.

No CPAP, but insomnia sucks no matter the cause...

I've never had chest pain, but have awakened in a panic gasping for breath. I also had a bad spell several years ago, where it seemed that every time I managed to doze off, I awakened after only a few seconds. During that spell, I went 60 hours with no sleep.

Are you able to breath freely and deeply when not trying to sleep?

I now know that this was part of my problem. I had congestion and inflammation in my lungs that wasn't evident during my normal day-to-day, but became evident as muscles relaxed as I was falling asleep. Once I realized what was going on, I used a variety of herbals to clear it up.

I was never able to sleep using a CPAP. I just do the best I can sleeping on my side and elevated.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

I'm fine as long as I'm awake. I've had 2 episodes

Awake, but that was rare. But yes, it's more of a panic, dread in the chest, but I can't get my lungs restarted

Unless you had a lot of onions and peppers for supper you need to get that chest pain checked out. It may also be time to change the seal or hose on your CPAP. And HGTV works better than Magnum to fight insomnia - you're literally watching paint dry.

Three of my medically prescribed drugs have a side effect called insomnia. My GP prescribed
the strongest dose of ambien, but to no avail. I decided to take matters into my own hands and
grow some cannabis sativa, and indica. My lungs are shot from nearly 60 years of inhaling so
now we make a tincture from it using Everclear. My wife and I both sleep like babies. Doc

Have you had a sleep study done? Chest pain is not to be

Taken lightly.
It took me about 2 months to get used to CPAP mask but now that I am used to it I love it.

Same here. I’ve used one (nasal mask) for 7 years now. I honestly feel like I CAN’T sleep if I’m not wearing it. I forgot it on a 5 day family beach trip and thought I was going to die. I was afraid to sleep because of my snoring and “choking”.

I’ve lost 40 ilbs the last 4 months, so life is getting better…but, I still use the cpap.

I tried Cpap and BiPap and neither worked for me. Having a mask on my face is like fighting a snake all night. I have a nephew that had the INSPIRE implant and he is very pleased with the results. No mask makes sense to me.

CPAP and THC gummies work for me. 8 hours most every night.
Chest pain is entirely different. Get to a doc.

Have you been diagnosed ? As TigerKat said, get that checked. They thought I had sleep apnea so I took the sleep test. As it turns out I didn't have apnea, I was having seizures (fixed with 'a little' brain surgery). Now I just have Old Man Can't Sleep Syndrome.

Bad sleep can take years off your life.

PS - Dear fellow Tigers, I've had brain surgery, what's your excuse. <img border=">">

What you are describing is a very dangerous situation. Sleep apnea can cause atrial fibrillation. AFib can cause blood clotting in the heart and subsequently a stroke. You need to see a cardiologist to wear a monitor to see if you have AFib. I had the same problem many years ago; fortunately, my cardiologist discovered the AFib. I used the CPAP which stopped the AFib for a number of years, but it came back and required ablation. Get your cardiologist to check this out. You probably need to be on a blood thinner to prevent clots and stroke.
