Recruiting trend

I think there is alot more going on than just NIL behind the scenes. I'm wondering if the coaches on opposing teams aren't pointing to the staff as an issue and that likely there will be turnover soon. Particularly on defense, which is where many speculate the change is coming in this offseason. Offer up some NIL money, point to your stable coaching staff, point out the guys who developed NFL talent are gone (on defense in particular), now you're getting traction, recruits look at stuff like Tnet and X it's not hard for them to come to the conclusion something change wise is coming.

I don't think NIL is the only thing. Has there been any high profile offensive recruits flipping the past 2 years? The trajectory of the defense is a talking point to get a kid to open his recruitment back up.

GT also beat us out for that OLine commitment.

Ain't no reason for anyone to choose GT over Clemson if development is their priority.
But it's a different game now. High school players are looking out for their own best interests, which now includes the opportunity to make big time money. Generational money for some players.
Priorities among recruits have shifted. And there is no amount of indoor slides that is going to beat a six, seven, or even eight figure contract.
Can you imagine a similar scenario in your professional field? Company A has some fun bosses and a slide and will pay you $50,000/yr. Company B has a little less history in the industry but wants to pay you $500,000/yr. ... Which way would you lean?

Clemson to GT and Duke. It's got zero to do with playoffs. It's NIL.

If that’s the case 17th is the best we can hope for since we have the 17th highest nil funding. Incidentally 17th is our current ranking.
Clemson is not winning a bidding war for the top players if it’s all about the money. As fans we had better hope it’s about something else as well.

I have a different understanding on 17th ranking

My understanding is that NIL contracts are not currently public knowledge. Aren’t the on3 NIL rankings just the calculated NIL value of a player? If my understanding is true, Clemson currently has 16 schools with rosters that are considered more talented.

False in two counts

1. There are several schools with far less NIL that have records equal or better to ours.
2. We are 131st out of 131 in paying up front NIL, which is what counts in getting elite players.

I guess things have to get worse before things get turned around. Now we are down to what, 13 commitments?
NIL is partly to blame. Dabo’s questionable position coaches has hurt the team. His pride and stubbornness is causing the team to decline for the past few years.
I am not saying fire Dabo, but a SCar loss will cause his seat to get warm. I can only hope that he uses the portal for something other than getting grad assistants. I also hope he lets Grisham go and gets a stellar receivers coach. Riley hasn’t impressed me. We look good against weak opponents, but when it comes to playing teams with a pulse, we struggle or lose them.
I am a Clemson die hard and want what’s best for the team. Go out and hire stellar position coaches to attract young recruits. The portal isn’t the answer but can fill in positions that are thin or in need. Otherwise the team will continue to decline.
If SMU wins the ACC Championship, it doesn’t say a lot about the conference other than that it is trash. Pretty embarrassing for a team like SMU to come in for the first year and win the conference.

In this current era of college football, if you are losing recruits, it's all about the $$$$$$$. Pay the recruits and they will come

Nothing new there...except Dabo makes it easier for them to do by his stances on the TP and up front NIL.
