Should I move to Clemson or Greenville

Jun 3, 2014, 5:01 PM

What say ye? I have the flexibility in my job to live wherever I would like and i'd love to be close to tiger town yet I want to enjoy the amenities of a larger city.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is a nice neighborhood.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

define "amenities of a larger city"

Jun 3, 2014, 7:11 PM

good cell service?
taxicabs?
Dominos delivery?
malls?

Live in the mountains, man. On the lake somewhere. Fish. Hunt. Hike. Raise stuff. You can drive into the city once a month to do your mall crawling.

Re: define "amenities of a larger city"

Jun 4, 2014, 8:05 AM

I enjoy all the things (aside from raising stuff) that you mentioned but what i'm really looking for is convenience and ease of networking meeting with other people.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why didn't you say so?!?

Jun 4, 2014, 9:00 AM [ in reply to Re: define "amenities of a larger city" ]

must be, because most city folks don't even know their next door neighbors.

I've found in my experience that living out in the country, you actually get to know MORE people. When I go in the filling station, the owners know me. That would never happen in a city. Same for the little diner down the road. I know all the neighbors around me, we stop and chat all the time, even have a "community text" set up from time to time when we see things (ex. a coyote roaming the area a few weeks ago). Much more protective and watchful of each other's property. Of course, there's not as many of us - but the bonds are closer. And none of us pay HOA fees ;)

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

but people that live out in the country still

Jun 4, 2014, 9:03 AM

say 'filling station'.

;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Umm...

Why is Clemson even being considered here if the part in bold is important to you?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have you seen Clemson lately?

Jun 3, 2014, 8:58 PM

There's a freaking skyscraper looming over Bowman and downtown now.

It's practically Dubai now.

Well I'm trying to decide between the two. Just getting opinions.

Jun 3, 2014, 9:09 PM

Jun 4, 2014, 8:03 AM

27 and Married. Tail chasing days are over

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I went through the same issue last year...

Jun 3, 2014, 9:50 PM

Decided on Pendleton...property is cheaper, less traffic, access to everything I need in Anderson within 15 minutes.

Did I mention the traffic? It takes forever to get anywhere in Greenville nowadays.

Jun 3, 2014, 9:59 PM

and in g'ville, it's mainly woodruff & main st (but why teh eff would you DRIVE on main street...park and walk) that are the trouble areas

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You can hit 178 and get to anything with relatively little

Jun 3, 2014, 10:32 PM [ in reply to #clemsonblvd*** ]

traffic...Greenville has traffic everywhere you go. I drive in both areas daily, Anderson ain't got nothing on the greater Greenville traffic.

Traffic really won't be an issue for me as I sub-contract and work from home.
