Women Basketball--A NEW LOW--Itoro Coleman has got to go.

Nov 26, 2012, 10:25 AM

Clemson Lady Tigers lost to SIE-Edwardsville this weekend. They are now 0-5.

Has anyone ever heard of SIE-Edwardsville?

We have now lost to Anderson, PC, South Florida, USuc, Montana State and SIU-Edwardsville.

I am not one of those fans who was sorry to have Jim
Davis leave. The program was slipping at that point.

Could we please get a coach with head coach experience and a winning record who can turn this around!!

Should be let go immediatly. I don't know where the coach came from but this is failure to the max.

i told everyone here she was going to be a disaster

Nov 26, 2012, 10:30 AM

her only qualification was she played here. She was an asst coach from a severely losing program. They sucked badly. Great recruiter tho.

God help us when the ACC schedule starts..

This is a very tough conference, and we have become the laughingstock of it.

She should have never been hired in the first place....

Nov 26, 2012, 10:33 AM

the last two head coaching hires in women's BB have more than proven the very low priority level the University and the Athletic Department places on women's basketball.

In fact, during her short tenure at Clemson she has concieved more children than winning game plans. It is abundantly clear what her priorities are and, unfortunately, basketball doesn't appear to be among them.

I agree about Davis. I think he was a very good technical coach, but wasn't able to recruit much talent his last two years. Heard it said his court demeanor turned off the good prospects plus having to go against several good female ACC coaches for talent didn't produce results. Finally, the facilities probably didn't help as well. At this point, it appears the wrong hire was made again with Coleman.

SIU Edwarsville used to be a soccer powerhouse in the day

Nov 26, 2012, 9:37 PM

but yes it is pathetic. I have obligations to be at a lot of the women's games and they are not coached at all. There is no game plan and no strategy. It's just 5 individuals who are not that talented going out there like they are at the YMCA. I wonder if they even practice.

Lay the blame on this one to TDP Barbara Kennedy Dixon & Linda White. Hopefully, the new AD will clean house in the Athletic Dept. and run a leaner, better operation.

I've been a huge supporter of Itoro

Nov 27, 2012, 9:54 PM

However - while I think this team is still a year away talent wise from what she is capable of recruiting - the recruits that she has now should NOT be losing to the teams that they are losing to. I can tolerate another sub-500 ACC season, but I can't tolerate not beating games that only are scheduled to be practice games. I was very forgiving of one (UTK lost to UTC... it happens), but several of these is a pattern. I think we should keep Itoro, but as a recruiting coordinator and assistant head coach. Bring it a top-notch talent with head coaching experience to coach the talent that she has been able to recruit. I hope I'm wrong because I really like Itoro and I hope she succeeds, but this is not what I expected.

Loubello hit the nail on the head. The firing of Jim Davis was orchestrated by Barbara Kennedy Dixon and Linda White, an unsuccessful volleyball coach who was put in administration. They wanted Jim Davis out because he was a male. TDP made a huge mistake of listening to them as he had no interest in women's basketball. Jim Davis had two down seasons and certainly deserved a chance to turn it around. Hopefully our new AD will clean house of an awful lot of dead weight in the department and bring in some folks who have a clue and not an agenda.
