Bite the bullet ACC. Ask Conn. and Rutgers to join.
North Div.----Syr.,Conn., Rutgers, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia, V. Tech, Pitt.
South Div.----Miami, Fla. State, Ga. Tec., Clemson, and four NC schools.
Football--play seven games in division. This will leave room for schools to be more flexible with their scheduling and keep old rivalries intact. They would have the option of scheduling more games against the other division teams if they care to, but only seven in division games will be used to decide division champion. (North versus South in the championship game.--Might make for some interesting cheers??)
Basketball--Home and home in division, but only one game against other division teams. ACC tournament to be scheduled to have a North and South team meet in championship game.
This will help with travel expenses, encourage regional rivalries and allow flexibility in schedule to allow existing rivalries to continue.
This big twelve stuff just doesn't make any sense.
To some this regional stuff might seem old fashioned, but maybe , with a four team playoff for the national champion, old fashioned is the way to go.
Football championship going to a 4 team playoff, with a possibility of no AQ's for champions, and you want teams 13-16 in the ACC to be Cuse, Pitt, UCONN, and Rutgers?
Southern football schools are already upset with the ACC over the percieved "basketball first" mentality, and you want to add those schools?
We make chump change compared to other conferences on our TV deal, and you add those schools?
Not saying those aren't excellent institutions with excellent athletic programs, but no way in HADES I see Clem/FSU/GT going for that deal.
