All and more… culture used to be a strength but now it needs a major reboot with the changing times. We are Blockbuster in a Netflix world.

It has got to be the coaching. The staff has recruited at a high level, and brought is very talented players. Unfortunately, they don't seem to get any better than where they start off. If you look at Peter woods, for example, he has not gotten any better than he was in his freshman season. The same goes for just about all of our starters. Hopefully Dabo will see that he needs a staff that can help these young men get better every game, every year.

Coaching and talent with the lion's share being Coaching. I know a recruiting class or two ago we missed on two 4* tailbacks and he signed a couple of 3* freshmen instead of portalling for one and maybe going back to the recruiting trail for the next season. He's been to insistent on bringing only freshmen and I think he's been to insistent on his people being outstanding in their character personally. I'm not sure you can draw a hard line with that. I think a lot of people who can win football games for him won't sit next to him in Church on Sundays.

It starts at the top and has a ripple effect across the whole program. Coaching.

But if I had to GUESS it would be a combination of; 1) Coaching experience dropoff - since '16 and '18 we lost a ton of experienced coaches, and somewhat infamously replaced them with new guys. We've since started replacing them one at a time, but are still a bit behind on quality experience at position levels.
2) Talent dropoff - our recruiting edge used to be our loyalty. You commit to us and we're committed to you until you graduate. NIL and the new landscape of college football DIRECTLY impacts that style of recruiting. Beyond that, the players we're getting now just aren't as good period. I can't think of a player right now that no doubt starts on either of our championship teams... most might not see the field.
3) Complacency - now Dabo is incredibly driven so maybe 'stubbornness' is a better word for it. He had a way and it worked. It worked amazingly well. But as noted above, the earth shifted under him and the way of running programs isn't like it was in the 90's, or early 2000's. I know that his refusal to use the portal or NIL is overblown, but he was definitely slow to adopt it (again because of his loyalty first approach).
4) Stale scheme - His approach to offensive football seems to have been figured out but we're still trying to run the same system. Multiple QBs, OCs and WR corps and still the same old sputtering offense. You get the overall sense of a man who thinks he knows better than everyone else, ignoring the warnings that we're about to run the car into a wall. He might very well know more than us... but we're still hitting the wall and wrecking the car.

What's the problem?....EVERYTHING! There isn't a single aspect of the football program that functioning smoothly right now.

and you need one to be a top 10 team. QB is not elite, and Dabo has not proven he can win at a high level without elite QB talent. At least Kelly Bryant could run.
Defense back 7 seem lost, slow, not athletic.
