A lot of people need to read it and let it sink in a bit.
The more I think about this without knowing any of the behind-the-scenes details, and NOBODY on this board knows those any of those things, (all we can do is speculate and overreact to those speculations) the more I think Bowden may have significantly upped my level of respect for him.
Here's the situation: Bowden did not seek out the Arkansas job. They sought him out. Not only that, they offered him 2.5 million per year which is a pretty sizable increase in salary. Bowden looks at it, meets with Terry Don Phillips, and says I want to stay here and I don't need an equal counter-offer in dollars for me, but I really need more security for my assistant coaches, because I believe we can "finish the job". We need to not let other schools hire these guys away.
That's the kind of coach I would want to play for and work for. Maybe instead of us immediately saying "He's just holding the school hostage for more money because he's a greedy SOB!" maybe we should look at it from another angle.
