Running Down the Hill Tradition

I’m confused why we have destroyed “the most exciting 25 seconds in CFB” with unnecessary and forced piped in music and now 2 videos. It has completely taken the crowd participation out of the anticipation of the busses rounding the NE corner. This year, we’ve also removed the 4 chords to “Sock it to ‘em” which once signified the busses rounding the corner. I understand experimenting with new technology, new speakers, etc.
But I think we need to recognize that this experiment has failed.

They still play Orange Bowl March when the band forms the tunnel but then they stop now for the Hype video and that stupid "We Will Rock you song". Then they play Tiger Rag when the team runs down the hill.
Only thing they need to kill IMO is that piped in song just before running down the hill. The pause between Orange Bowl March and Tiger Rag for the video only before the team runs down the hill would not that bad IMO. They are trying to do too much.

You can still incorporate "We Will Rock You". Just play that first, while you show the videoboard of the players loading the busses.
Then, as soon as the busses depart... play the 60-90 second video.
Then, when the busses round the NE corner, show that on the videoboard. Crowd cheers.
Then, band hits the first notes of Sock it To 'Em. (This is a 52 second song)
During this time, Dabo and players exit off the busses and are standing there for only 30 seconds or so... plenty long enough.
Then, cannon fires and run down. It's a very easy fix and still incorporates every element.

It's the weirdest thing seeing the players and Dabo just chilling up there on the hill for an awkward amount of time while videos are playing and we will rock you with no Sock It To Em (Orange Bowl march) and then they just blow the cannon.
It's the most contrived thing. Reminds me of South Carolina or Duke or Wake Forest.

It's a bunch of people getting together in meetings and justifying paychecks for a "enhanced fan experience " initiative.
Other teams do have to do that in order to sell tickets or whatever reason. We don't. I don't really think a recruit will make a decision based on whether or not we have new video board entry technology.

I agree. The entrance music has been awkward ever since they started playing We Will Rock You over the new video board. The transition from that to the band is awful. What they are doing this year isn’t an improvement. I always knew when the cannon was going to be fired before all this. Saturday it actually caught me by surprise.

This is actually much improved. Previous it was 1 awesome video, hype when Dabo came out, and then an awkward 90 seconds of standing while the band played. Very happy with this new change.

just going to say, before the new sound system I do not recall we wil rock you playing... just the band. For whateve reason the crowd is not as into the running down the Hill as previous... last week was awkward because of the Overton two 14's running first, not sure everyone knew that was happening... maybe its because the hype video's distract people instead of focusing people? Got more games to figure it out...

everyone should stand there motionless, and entirely, 100% silent. No cheering, no phone videos. Nothing. Just an entirely empty non-reaction until Clemson runs down the Hill. That'll send the message of how sucky and lifeless the whole thing has become. Then it'll look even more embarrassing and maybe they'll be compelled to change it.

The anticipation was the live video of the busses on the way to the top of the hill and then waiting to see Dabo and the players come through the gate. From our seats, we could see the police blue lights and the top of the busses as they approached the hill, the music was a non factor in the excitement as it was about waiting on the cannon to fire.

The big screen as utilized has hurt the experience and even the the crowd participation and noise! When is the last time you have seen the opposing team bothered by crowd noise? Fans are waiting for big screen entertainment instead of cheering. And now cheerleaders are holding signs for the orange white or Clemson Tigers cheers.

While I agree and wish we never changed the way we did things, it’s just the times. The younger people like the new way just like they like Pat McAfee on Gameday. You have to appeal to the younger generations because if you don’t as the older people drop off you lose your base.
