SCHP and travel question

Jan 6, 2017, 2:03 PM

Kind of a stupid question, but curious how the patrolmen who travel with the team gets selected. Seems like a pretty sweet gig. It is an appointment, something they request? Is it the same officer for every game? I noticed after the Ohio St game that it looked like DW4 had a trooper, too. I know Head Coaches always have a couple. Just curious how all that works. I guess local LEOs escort the team when they get to Tampa? Does the team just ride regular charter buses down there or do they have special marked team buses?

Best Is The Standard

Watching WYFF4.com's coverage of the team buses/planes

I notice, too, that there are two planes on the tarmac - a larger and a smaller. Looks like all the players & coaches are getting on the larger plane. Who/what goes on the smaller? Until I watched this coverage I never realized all the logistics involved. Pretty crazy stuff!

Families of the players travel on the other plane.

Doubt it.

I doubt it is families of players.

Staff, families of staff, managers, trainers, grad assistants, other support staff, athletic department officials and families.

The smaller plane carries all of their wing men.
