Saying "farewell" to Littlejohn tonight. ...

Mar 3, 2015, 6:56 PM

Been attending games there since I can remember. My favorite still has to be the conference - clincher over Duke in 1990. I have seen all of the great Duke and UNC teams roll thru; some have survived, some have not. Players such as Stephon Marberry Kenny Anderson Tim Duncan and the list goes on. But the best I ever saw play here was Len Bias; what a talent he was.

Littlejohn has seen it's share of highlights, lowlights, spectacular dunks, and crazy finishes. There should be a great crowd there tonight to give her the proper send-off. She deserves it!

I agree Skip Wise was the best EVER to put on a Tiger Uniform! Unbelievable Talent. Never fear there will be enough of LJ "Hold overs " in the patch job to quell any feelings of loss you may have, I'm sure. Another $63 million for yet another patch job, Thanks D Rad!

The Duke game of course, I remember all the helecoptrs and other media coming in when Ralph Sampson came in one night.

I also saw the Doobie Brothers, Three Dog Night (better than i expected), and James Taylor there .

Sweet times !

Tigers were among the first to darken its doors.

We really thought we had arrived in the "big time" and held our heads up high because we were mighty proud to be seen in that type of facility. (lol)

In fact I recall wearing a coat, tie, dress slacks and dress shoes, because I didn't want others to think I was low life enough to enter that majestic edifice looking like I was going on a coon hunt...or something like that.

Oddly enough, some 46+ years later, it still stands though soon to be gutted, stuffed and filled with what we hope to be a fine work of taxidermy...one that springs to life when the Tigers are ready to play!
