Saturday’s Spring Game day experience/Questions

Apr 10, 2017, 9:26 AM

Arrived in God’s country with a prospective female companion (sorry no pics) who had never been to a Clemson game in The Valley so I figured I would give her the grand tour of everything Clemson had to offer.

In those ventures we came across campus in route to downtown we passed by Riggs field and the Rugby match was in progress. I have to say if Dabo needs a quick replacement for an offensive lineman he need not look any further than the Rugby team.

I have watched a handful of Rugby games over the years on TV but you can’t get the full effect of how brutal it is until you see it live and from where we were standing up close.

It’s like that old Danny Ford days when he needed a kicker…He went over to the soccer field and got a kicker. If Dabo needs a guy to just knock the snot out of someone…go over to the Rugby field.

My question is how can traffic (arriving and leaving) be so “normal” even though there were 60,000 in attendance. It was the same back in January when the parade was going on.

On a normal game day we have 80,000+ and we have to sit in traffic miles away from campus and it takes hours to get out after the game.

Saturday I drove on campus wondering if I had the right day for the spring game. Even when leaving I only sat in traffic for about 10 minutes. Why is it/was it so different with only 20,000 less? And I realize the baseball game was going on and a lot stayed around for the game.

She is already a Tiger fan so she has that going for her....she just had not been to a game yet.

She WILL be back for a real game this season

I wonder on game day if 115000 show up to party with friends and don't go to the game. That could be part of it.

Frankly, the SCHP creates more problems than they solve.***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I was wondering if that was the problem...re-routing traffic

to one way in and one way out.

Just let it be a free for all and be done with it

Probably a difference of about 50,000 people. I was at the game and by my calculations there were about 45,000 bodies in the stadium. I like the sound of 60,000 but it just wasnt so. In addition, on game day, there are about 35,000 people out and about that never make it into the game, by choice. Now you know what it is like to go to a North Carolina game - about 45,000.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well, somewhere between 45-50k and coming at different times.

How many of that 50 k were on the stadium when you left?

How full was brooks psrking and lot 16?

I'm willing to bet there were less than half the people at the spring game than an averge football game.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

I would love to know what our average gameday in stadium

Apr 10, 2017, 10:41 AM

attendance REALLY is. My guess is often close to 90k on bigger games
