Sammy Brown made the RIGHT CHOICE: Culture and playing time

Sammy Brown was never going to Georgia. Never. I knew this for months. It was laughable to think otherwise. It was kinda fun to watch the speculation, though. The culture at Georgia does not fit him at all. Clemson is family values, salt of the earth, hard work, and good people. Georgia is all glitz and glamour and bells and whistles. The only reason I am a Georgia fan is because I grew up in Athens and went to grad school there. Too
many memories as a little kid in Sanford Stadium. Now, however, I have nothing positive to say about Athens. Nothing. Quite frankly, the culture in the two programs is different. Not saying one is better, but it IS different. Players must decide what fits them best. Georgia is the top program now and they have made decisions they feel are necessary. I’m just a fan and I have no input. I can, however, stop going to games if I ever feel like I’ve had enough.

The vast majority of my friends are all Clemson people. I gravitate towards them and I spend all of my time with them and go to Clemson events. I like the Clemson females, too 😉 I should’ve been a Clemson fan. I think in the next 5 years I will be moving to the Clemson or Walhalla area. My kind of people and lifestyle.

Sammy Brown is a very good student and he comes from a very good family and he is a good player. He will fit in wonderfully at Clemson. He will make good grades. He comes from a very good family. He will be a true student athlete and a good citizen. He will be able to get on the field and play and not transfer.

This was written in the cards for years. A good day for Clemson.

Hickory Knob today. 39-37-76. (3 putted #1 from 25 feet for a par after being on in 2)

I think people forget this often. Not every culture is the same and you shouldnt fault a kid for going where they fit in the best and feel the most comfortable.

Your secret Clemson fandom is not so secret now btw lol.

Because of the old man cult on t-net. They don’t allow outsiders. Some have 1000s of posts with a 100% pulse. Either they have said nothing in those 1000s of posts (probably true) or they TU in a circle format.

Mr free weights also demands respect and rivals Judge Keller in snarky backhanded compliments. Engage as you wish.

I might have some insight into that.

As an "enemy of the people" (I openly state I'm an FSU fan first, Clemson fan second) I understand the skepticism. When I first found this board, back when Tommy Bowden was being hired and I was following coaching searches all over the country, I was understandably greeted with skepticism. People assumed I was a troll. I was just hear to attack Clemson. I was just playing nice as a diversion. Took several months for most of the people to understand I was just a fan who liked to talk football.

I left and was gone for years. A few years ago, I don't even remember when, I came back. It took longer to be accepted this time. In the past 20 years message boards have gotten "meaner." More and more fans from other schools are nothing more than trolls. So, when a guy freely admits he's a fan of another school, fans here logically assume he's up to no good.

I have no idea who Bulldog is. I have no idea what other posts he has written. (I'm weird. I click on posts and read the content. I pay very little attention to who posts them. I should pay more attention than I do.) From reading other posts in this thread I'm thinking Bulldog might be the guy who posts about his ability in the weight room. If so, that could account for his low pulse.

My advice to Bulldog.
1. This is a Clemson message board.
2. You are a guest. Never forget that.

Your post was fine. If you're a troll, you'll be found out. If you're not, just be patient. These folks will accept you. They accepted me. They welcome me. And, I appreciate it. But, I never forget - I'm a guest.

Isn't everyone here a guest? What does it mean to be "accepted" here? Post things everyone agrees with? Refrain from posting factual info people just don't like?

I'm curious AFDAWG. Why would you, someone that dislikes Clemson so much and is such an angry person, spend money to join TNet?

Although, I will say thanks for financially supporting the Clemson community and helping the program.

First of all, I don't spend money to participate. Not sure why anyone would assume I do. I've certainly never claimed that. I don't hate Clemson. I respect Dabo and the program he's built. My son is a grad. Been to Clemson several times and its a great environment.

Bret mentioned acceptance. That seems to mean posting things people agree with. I don't think I've ever posted anything hateful about Clemson, or referred to Clemson as a trash fan base (which seems at least a little hateful). If you're going to engage in football talk, seems inevitable that fans of different teams might have different perspectives. Do you really only want to engage with people who think exactly as you do?

I'm now marking the time it will take Bloodbeorange to respond that I'm posturing myself as a victim.

Kind of like coming to dinner with an “invited” friend…

Jun 6, 2023, 8:02 AM [ in reply to Re: I might have some insight into that. ]

…Start acting up, and you WILL be asked to leave, or REMOVED, as is the case on T’Net. Don’t forget, family members are often REMOVED for bad behavior at family get-togethers as well, so no favoritism there either.

As Bret said, you will become “family”, and your “guest” status will FADE, but the “scarlet letter”, while faded, can still be seen.

<img border=">

“@bretfsu” is one of my favorite T’Netters.

However, during FSU-Clemson football weekends, I normally just find myself “absent”, not for insulting reasons, but mainly because if Clemson loses to FSU in football, I’m physically and mentally “concussed” for a few days.

Sounds like Tigertown fits you very well..

and know I have some good memories going UGa's way since Clemson Grad Son went there (Athens) for 3 super years for Law Degree and we both enjoyed the years going to games, hitting downtown, meeting Dawg fans & his roommates.

All's good! Two great towns, fine Universities and super fan bases!

Many long term Athens residents are old money and think they are a fine southern aristocracy. My mother in law grew up in the Athens elite crowd and the arrogance is palpable. They still believe they are better than everyone else and that totally unfounded snobbishness is as much or more a part of their culture as religion is in Dabo’s culture.
