Herschel lived in Texas but ran in Georgia (yeah, he "owned property" in Georgia but hadn't lived in GA since college). Dr. Oz lives in NJ but ran for Senate in Pennsylvania. Mitt Romney was Governor of Massachusetts but ran for Senate in Utah.
Does it really matter where you live anymore? Can't you just run for Senate in any state where you choose? Doesn't really seem to matter whether you're a legal resident or not these days.

I’m trying to think of who else has mentioned running for office and retained a tv show. I think it is hard to do both time wise. Did Trump keep doing the Apprentice while running? I don’t watch much tv except games and an occasional movie.

Also, he had already announced, BEFORE the firing, that he wouldn't be returning to the show since he was running for president.

I said he was fired THEN the show was canceled for rating when Arnold took over.

Yeah this is definitely something contractual or agreed upon.
ESPN isn't going to boot him off the air for mentioning a passing interest in politics, especially since I don't think he ever actually confirmed anything, he has just said it's "very intriguing."
But Clay Travis loves to stir up the pot, so I'm sure he will report it however he sees fit.
