The purpose of the Second Amendment was to give the people the capability to throw off the yoke of tyrannical government. The Colonists did not defeat the greatest military power on Earth with water balloons. They used the Assault Rifles of their day and wrested our freedom from King George.
Gun Ownership has served America well. I quote Admiral Yamamoto, the architect of the attack on Pearl Harbor, who had studied in America and resisted the idea of invading a country in which there was a "gun behind every blade of grass."
Sandy Hook was a tragedy but not for reasons the media would have you believe. It was a tragedy because the shooter, an obviously mentally ill man, did not receive the care he should have received because getting someone committed requires an Act of God. It was a tragedy because Sandy Hook had been naively proclaimed a "gun free" zone by the deluded Progressive Left AS IF that would provide an invisible shield that would have protected the children. It did not. It was a tragedy that when seconds count, the police were minutes away. When the authorities arrived, all they could do was count the dead. If only one responsibile adult at that school had been allowed to carry, the outcome might have been different. If only....
The government would have you believe that if you turned over your firearms that there would be Peace on Earth. Exhibit A of this folly, Obama's base, Chicago. Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in America. Funny, the criminals pay them not the slightest attention and Chicago is regarded as one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. Maybe if the citizenry were armed and could fight back and defend themselves it might have an ameliorative affect on the violence? Ya think?
Here is what I think and history proves me correct. I believe that a disarmed people presents an easy target for criminals and tyrants. I believe that if the people do not have guns than only the criminals and the government will have guns and frankly I am having increasing difficulty telling one from the other.
For the last 45 years, America has been assaulted by the Progressive Agenda. You can see the ruin all around you. Gun Control is the Holy Grail of Progressivism. I urge my fellow Americans to draw the line in the concrete and say NO MORE!
