A truly sad end. It certainly seems, with this most recent setback requiring yet

another Achilles surgery for Deshaun Watson, meaning he will most likely miss all of the 2025 season, even IF rehab is successful this time around, that DW4's career might be over. With fans burning his jersey, and the general hate around him for all the franchises problems, which are NOT his responsibility, his time in Cleveland as a player almost certainly is done.

What are his options, assuming he even wants to play on beyond now? How did he get to this state? If I had had to pick any single player who I thought would set GOOD records in the NFL from Clemson, it would have been Watson. And, before things suddenly soured in Houston, he was well on his way. Easy to forget now, but as Stephen A recently said, once upon a time, this "brother" was being talked about in the same breath as Patrick Mahomes, as being the top two young QBs in the whole league.

You can say whatever you want about the off the field stuff, but that stuff did not find the sudden light of day until he made it plain he was not going to play again for the Texans, and tried to strongarm his way out of town. Then, Houston did everything in their considerable power to get him excommunicated from the game completely. He paid a helluva price for things that were never even proven in a court of law.

Now, I am not going to stand here and try and defend him on those things. He obviously, at the very least, made some terrible judgement decisions in off the field behavior. But, he is far from alone in those type things, and others have been far less harshly treated, for far worse offenses.

But, the question now is, does Deshaun Watson ever play meaningful snaps at QB in the NFL again, for ANY franchise? The cards certainly seem stacked against him. Too much baggage, contract wise, for the Browns to be able to move him. Too much injury history for a team to take a chance on him at QB1, even if they were so inclined with all the off the field baggage AND the contract. So, it appears to me, tragically, that he is done. What say you all?

He has not played up to his potential since the off field issues started. He has been injured most of his career in Cleveland and when he did play he was not good.
My thought is that the big money changed who Deshaun Watson is, he lost himself and the will to win.

Would Deshaun look at his team today and say, “they left too much time on the clock. Let’s go be great.”
I think that statement is not in his heart now.

Maybe if he was 100% healthy, surrounded by a great team, and playing in the Superbowl.

Anybody that follows DW4 on Instagram will see all he cares about is showing off his flashy life style and his designer clothes. He also limits his comment that show nothing but praise for his life style. He was one of my favorites while at Clemson but not so much anymore. Money really changed him for the worse.

I don't think the Texans had anything to do with what happened to him.

Isn’t that Buzbee schister neighbors with the Texans owner?

They are both rich and lived in the same guard gated community, but weren't neighbors. Very unlikely the owner would try to destroy a player over a contract. That would be terrible for the future if the team.

Honestly, sick of hearing about him...

he wasted his talent.

There are lots of bad QBs still playing. I would guess some desperate team give

Him a shot and pay him almost nothing. Heck , even Colin K had teams willing to let him compete (which he did not want to do).
Not sure what happened to DW. Was Houston a mirage or was he good? Sure seemed like he was the real deal.
Maybe he will use the time off and get his mental game back and when the phone rings from a really bad desperate team - he gets back out there and shows us how good he could be. Otherwise - he is simply a Ryan Leaf. Someone who they do a segment on about having talent but failed miserably. I am like you, I expected him to be really good.

Ryan Leaf was selected #2 overall(DW#12 overall, 3rd QB selected) and Leaf..

was never selected to 3 consecutive Pro-Bowls(Leaf Pro-Bowl selections:0) and never led the NFL in passing yards for a season, DW can make both claims.(As far as his health, he had a left in knee ligament sprain which was later torn while at Clemson and tore his right ACL during his rookie season with Houston which he took a beating..with the chronic Achilles + numerous shoulder injuries I'd his body is shot)

I tore my Achilles a few years back and the surgery went well but I lost flexibility and mobility and calf and leg strength and now am a shell of the athlete I was just a few years ago. I was a college baseball player and avid distance runner before the surgery. All I am saying is that everyone does not recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon as well as some even with the best care and money available.

As the old saying goes you play the hand you are dealt. Unfortunately DW was the dealer in that card game. Best thing for him to do is take a trip back to Dabo's office for a little talk.

An invasive, unwarranted(due to media pressure)...

police investigation took place and the results were resolute: There was not more than an inkling of evidence to suggest a crime had been committed; if there had been even a thimble's worth then DW would have been indicted due to the pressure created by the media witch hunt. Indictment requires a MUCH lower standard of evidence/level of proof than "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" of a trial; all that is required is: 12 of 23 jurors find there is "probable cause" that a crime has/had been committed. 2 grand juries(NJ, Pa) were summoned (due to media pressure), both were presented the "evidence" and declined to indict.

What we are talking about is not a criminal indictment but an indictment of his football ability over the last few years.
Whether it has been caused by injuries, massages or just too much money, he is not the same person who was a pro-bowler.

And the correct answer is: following the noise created by ambulance chaser..

Buzzbee and his parade of scorned lot lizards desperate for a handout due to COVID destroying their usual revenue streams, Watson was made enemy #1 & demonized by the feminazi & LBGT camps of the left which have numbers & influence in the press, particularly sports media. With the MeToo movement shenanigans finally quelled by its own hubris: increasingly bizarro accusations each growing exponential absurdity, DW was the made the sole target of their latest social justice issue/battle/fallacy. In the end..it was much ado about nothing...but as the victim of this travesty, reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials, Watson has/had become a pariah in the public eye (agenda driven influencers + sheeple). This most certainly has taken a toll on his mental well being combined with physical injuries have left him broken.
