Root canal vs uga

I’m at the endodontists office waiting to have a root canal and wondering what would be worse…toothache vs loss to uga? No question that a loss to the dawgs would hurt a little less but the pain would last a whole lot longer.
Wish me luck. Go Tigers!

sedative dentistry makes root canals easy peasy.

Even without sedatives I’ve found my two root canals to be pretty easy and pain free. Aside from the discomfort of having that block holding your jaw open, they were both fine. I guess it used to be different back in the day…

I don't like anyone in my mouth with picks and pliers. Knock me out, please. LOL

It’s kinda like flying or riding public transportation. Not being in control stinks. Super hard to do a root canal on yourself though.
I found getting an implant worse. They have to do a bone graft to give enough bone to anchor to. Unless you go to one of those fly by night same day implants. Those have a tendency to fall out. My father in law found out the hard way. $10k worth of same day implants that never healed and fell out. It’s the scraping they do deep into the marrow of your jaw that’s horrible. It echoes through your skull and is psychologically painful. I broke a tooth on a ball bearing in a McDonald’s burger that couldn’t be saved. I couldn’t prove the ball bearing came from the burger. I make all my own burgers nowadays. Kinda have to after that.

Agree 100% with the implant being worse. Very intense pain about two hours after the initial procedure. The doc put me on several meds for about a week. The combination of the meds had me bouncing off the walls. I could not focus on anything for more than a minute or so. It was like ADD on steroids.
I had to go back for a checkup a couple of weeks later. When I got back home, my wife asked me how it went. I told her “pretty good except the doc saw some redness and still some swelling, so he prescribed another round of those meds.” My wife looked at me and said “oh he!! no, you can go get a hotel. I ain’t putting up with you like that again.” I started laughing and told her I was just kidding about the meds. Oh the look on her face.

Yep, I was about to say that a root canal should totally painless unless he has an infection in the area of the tooth that's getting the canal!!!

The anticipation of pain was far worse than the real deal. Glad it’s over! The doc was a good guy even with his OSU cap on. He had good words to say about Dabo.

Have fallen asleep during two root canals. A little sore afterward - nothing tylenol wouldn't cover.

Agreed. That was the biggest worry over nothing. Had two root canals and did not feel a thing. Dentists are really good at numbing now. Worst part of it is the procedure takes time and you are there for a while. Best part - not going back to work for the rest of the day and going home and resting.
