Rivals Rankings

Feb 5, 2013, 12:40 PM

First time I've looked at the rankings in weeks...maybe months. I was taken back by them.

3 SEC schools in top 5
7 SEC schools in top 11
11 SEC schools in top 25 - including Vandy?!?!?

What the heck are those guys selling over there. We all know Auburn is dirty. I don't see how not. The Lawson deal looks very familiar to the Cam deal.

I heard one expert on radio asked this a.m. how did even Ole Miss pull in a top 10 - possible top 5 class? His response was to go watch the ESPN 30 on 30 special on SMU and you'll get a good ideal.

I love our class...we still have 13 4 star kids and I'm hoping we land a couple more tomorrow. I just wonder what it would be like if we were in another conference. Dabo is a great recruiter as a HC...one of the best. But even as a salesman, it's like he's selling KIA's while SEC is selling Mercedes. Just not a level playing field.

Clemson 25-LSU 24. The true measure of recruiting success!

The rest of it is just pumped smoke.

It's all about perception as to which conference will get ..

them to the NFL - recruits perceive the SEC as having a direct pipeline to the pros. If you check, though, you'll see that the ACC has placed it's share of players into the pros as well.

Where does Boise St. rank in recruiting every year?

Feb 5, 2013, 12:53 PM

And where do the end up in the polls? More about coaching and player commitment and work ethic than recruiting rankings.

in their case, it's more about their schedule

And I think we all know that, given good coaching, player commitment and work ethic, you'd still rather have the best talent you can get. You don't go out and say, "hey, our kids love being here and we're great coaches, so we're not going to care if we get the best recruits."

we wouldn't care about recruiting either if we played.......

wyoming
sdsu
colorado state
unlv
new mexico etc.....

they jumped up slightly in competition this year (but still no competition), but with a schedule like that you don't need to recruit well
