Kind if interesting that Mays missed most of the 52 season and all of the 53 season due to being in the Army. When he returned he hit 41hrs in 1954 and 51 hrs in 1955. May's finished his career with 660 hrs. Babe Ruth at 714. Without the time in the Army, May's had a good chance of surpassing Ruth.

Mays was one of favorite players as a kid. Loved he finished his career in NY.

I found it interesting that Mays was only 5ft 10 and 170lbs, or listed at that.

Teddy Ballgame missed even more time than Mays. Williams missed '43-'45 and parts of the '52 and '53 seasons.
It would have been incredible to have seen what Williams's records would have been without missing the prime years 3 yrs during World War II.
However, there were bigger fish to fry then for sure.

for kids like me in the 1960s, when MLB was king. One of my most prized possessions is a baseball autographed by the 1968 SF Giants. RIP Willie.
