Dabo Gave Goodwin an opportunity when no one else would because He was unproven. After this year Wes will be paid by what He has done. Either Clemson will give him a raise or He will accept an offer from another school.
Garret Riley's contract was negotiated based on his taking TCU to a national championship.

I recall just about 12 months ago that the support of Goodwin was close to non-existent among fans. Many thought he was not as capable of his job as Streeter was.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Talent is more important than coaching.
Defense - we hit on almost every defensive recruit in the 2023 cycle. Older more experienced players getting passed on depth chart. All the sudden Goodwin looks like a genius. After the SC game last year with less talent people were ready to fire Goodwin. Reality was we lacked depth and talent. Now we have talent and depth and we are a top 5 defense this year.
Offense - Look around. Where’s the talent? Ship and Mafah and that’s about it. Tyler Brown looks solid and a healthy Antonio Williams looks solid too but not game changers like there is on defense. I think our Oline is actually serviceable like it was during our run but we don’t have the skill players to take the pressure off them. We have got to get the elite WR back and Cade needs to improve drastically. Our change in OC proved it’s a talent issue and not a coaching issue.

Is Riley overpaid? No. Get him the talent and he’ll show us how good of a play caller he is. He proved it at TCU.
Is Goodwin underpaid? Yes. He’s proven with talent that he can bring us a top 10 unit. Pay the man or someone else will.
My point was that if someone were to offer me a roster full of 5* and mediocre coaches or a roster with 2&3 stars with so called elite coaches I’m taking the 5* team.

Dabo did the right thing when setting salaries. Wes was an unproven coach who had NEVER coached on the field. Riley is brilliant and Dabo did what he needed to get him.
Salaries will reflect contributions and Wes will be rewarded for his great work.
