Riddle Me This, Batman...

Nov 24, 2013, 12:08 AM

If Clemson beats USuC and ...Alabama over Auburn, A&M over Missouri, Minn over Mich St., Oklahoma over Oklahoma State

Then

Mich St over Ohio St in Big Ten Championship, USuc over Alabama in SEC Championship

Does Clemson move into the NC against FSU (without Winston who is charged by then)?

I dont think we would have to worry about

Nov 24, 2013, 12:14 AM

Mich St if they beat Ohio St, and probably not Missouri or OKST if we finish with a top 10 win vs USuC

that made my head hurt...

75% chance

In that scenario, Alabama is the only other possibility. Can't imagine voters putting a team that lost it's last game in the NC, but it's possible.

Point taken about Oklahoma. I see that they didn't drop at all. The #2 team also lost that week, but even if they hadn't it looks like Oklahoma would have fallen to #2 at worst. Nebraska in 2001 fell from #1 to #4. The teams ahead of them lost over the next two weeks to put them in the title game.

The sad part is the SEC goggles have it so that our hope in the SEC is SCAR. I wouldn't want to put money on us being ahead of Missouri if they win out (even if they play Auburn in the championship).

Was anyone watching Gameday today when they were talking about the best one-loss team, and Finebaum said something to the tune of, "If Missouri wins out and beats Alabama in the SECCG (and this is still with the concept of Ohio State and Baylor being undefeated) you would be hard pressed to keep them out of the NCG because they just beat the number one team in the nation."

Completely ludicrous concept and it's exactly why the entire country has a problem with the SEC. They love to tout the fact that they beat each other more than anyone else beats them. Apparently they fail to realize that 70% of a teams games are played in conference and another 10-20% are cupcakes (unless said cupcake is playing Florida). When you only play one tough OOC game a year (and possibly two) it's nearly impossible to overthrow the logic they create.

add in another fact: when you get it actually narrowed down

Nov 24, 2013, 6:05 AM

to,"When you only play one tough OOC game a year (and possibly two)" you can then add : and that's a home game maybe 50% of the time, or at least a neutral field,. that even further diminishes the ooc teams chances of beating an sec team.
