Rewatching the game on TV and I will

Say that our O-line in many situations fails to give our QB protection beyond about 2 seconds protection and fails to open up holes in short yardage situations. This is the reason IMHO for much of our problems on O. I know injury is part of this but even before now we have struggled with this issue with a healthy line. Much to improve on and I am optimistic because we have Dabo but our O line needs to become a stronger and better unit. Go Tigers!!!

Agreed. This has to start with Caldwell retiring or moving to a different role.
Then go find the best oline coach out there. I don’t want someone who learned from Caldwell either which is the succession plan unfortunately.

Word on the street is Caldwell plans to retire at the end of the season and Thomas Austin is already set as the new OL coach in waiting.

I think they refer to it as "strength and conditioning", something that seems to be a staple of most top 10 teams year in and year out. Why this year our "O" line is suspect is beyond me .But right now I am beginning to wonder about our Head Coach who can't seem to find the "guts" to bench this highly touted 5 star QB who can't seem to get out of his own way.

a pocket...DJ just didn't step up. There was time, but no open receivers (I guess). It's a team game, and we're not taking advantage of the times when the line plays well, when DJ plays well, or when the receivers play well. At some point, I hope we can pull it all together. Not sure if it takes more reps, time, or maturity, but I hope it's soon! Go Tigers!

Underrated post imo. Admit, haven't rewatched the tape but I thought they did better. Hard to tell when you consider the competition we've played... That said, I definitely hold the coaches responsible. True, inordinate amount of injuries play some part, but we shouldn't be in a situation of having to rely on a true freshman and a walk on center.
Tchio, Bryn Tucker, Mitchell Mayes are sophomore or higher and came in with high 4* ratings. I get it, kids develop different rates and OL is toughest group to evaluate talent but of all 3 of these, none would know our offense better than a true freshman or be more physical than a walk on. If so, why? Evaluation, or coaching? Idk, not smart enough, but it seems odd.

and you have a true freshman Leigh that barely sees the field. I think he came in during the summer so he missed workouts.
