How did we win that game? 4Q was awful until the last 2:30 when the O put together the best drive of the whole season. And what better way to seal the game than for the true freshman who got burnt during the game a few times to pick it off.
I’ll call it fortitude. Let’s hope we carry this fortitude into this season. Also forgot how annoying that UK wr was. Also, quite a few missed penalties against UK.

Hope that was a precursor of what to expect this year with a healthy and experienced O ready to roll. Can't wait to find out.
That last drive was crisp! Imposing our will and just taking the W instead of hoping for a miracle. Man, hope we can see more of that this year instead of us sweating it out against lower tired teams.

Dudes on O laying the wood to get yards, from OL and RB to WR and QB. Just playing with an intensity that was very seldom during the season.
Cade still almost gave the game away with an intentional grounding ball sailing to the opposite side of the field, but the rest of the drive—especially after that point, was will to win. With 50 seconds left, we had 3rd and 18 to Williams, then 4th and 2 to Mafah, 1st and 10 to Williams, 1st and goal to Brinningstool, and Mafah up the middle for the TD. And then made the 2pt conversion to force a FG.
Easily best drive of the season.

Kentucky had multiple turnovers in the 4th quarter. If not for that we lose to a mediocre 7-5 team. And it wasn't because our players didn't give effort and play hard. They gave their all, and there were a few flashes of brilliance. Mafah looked very good; it's too bad his OL was poor.

up until fourth quarter. And that against a s#itty 7-5 KY team. Go ahead and justify it in your mind if you want Al... the truth is that we looked terrible for most of that game.

Bingo.
KY game victory was the mirror image of our losses against Duke and FL State, as far as untimely + devastating TOs, were concerned.
Glad that the T/O’s went our way to end our season on a good note.

All that is true!
I don't think you can discount the 100% fact; Kentucky had 100% of their team playing while Clemson had how many "new starters"? A ton?
No Trotter. Wiggins. Ruke. Jones(hurt). Shipley. We had Shelton Lewis and A. Terrell and Barnes all "True Freshmen" on the back end and "it showed"!
To me: "that was a gutty win versus a Kentucky team that at one point in the year was in the top 10-12 teams in the country!

It was also a Kentucky team that lost to the two best SEC teams by a combined score of (something like) 100-21.

Well since we are talking about turnovers, Clemson is 11-1 possibly 12-0 without turnovers last season. Up 7 and moving the ball, FSU sacks Cade causing a fumble they return for a TD. We lose in OT. Miami Shipley fumbles on the 1 yd line. Next play Miami scores on a 75yd run. We lose in overtime. Nc state had a pick 6. If you take that away we win. We fumbled multiple times against Duke. Since we are talking about turnovers and mediocre teams.

Over a 10 play span Kentucky turned it over 3 times. That would doom most teams.

Those interceptions were due to extreme pressure ,great play by Carter and defensive backs. Kentucky score 3 touchdowns on 2 TOTAL busts of coverage and kick off return for a touchdown. Was due to two new people playing in the defensive backfield and not enough time to properly prepare for Kentucky. Kentucky did a great job of creating confusion. That game reminded me of a busted coverages West Alabama in the 2015 national championship game in Arizona.

Not sure, but I’ll bet more than 41% of the Kentucky players will graduate ……. And as far as I know, none of their players were in jail recently, even the illegal one. Of course, it just means more.

and very hard to believe.. more points were scored in the 4th quarter of that game than have EVER been scored in ANY college bowl game.
and the wife and I were there (she got her picture made with Dabo before the game - I don't want to say that made the difference, but, what other plausible explanation is there?).
Also.. remember Weitz bounced one over the cross bar sometime during that quarter. Otherwise it goes to OT.

Weitzs South Carolina and Kentucky game run needs to be studied. I was at both games didn’t I think he’d make the first one versus South Carolina and that last one versus Kentucky, but he proved me wrong.

To have somehow win the KY game despite terrible play by our inexperienced secondary is very important for this coming season.
Remember how, during 2022 game against WF in Winston Salem, our young CB Nate Wiggins got destroyed? This trial by fire was the learning experience that practice could not simulate. Pretty much from WF game in 2022 going forward, Wiggins was elite. Our other CBs were also brutalized in the 2022 WF game; their play also improved.
I don’t foresee our DBs to play as well overall this year than they did in 2022. Wiggins was elite; we don’t have a DB of his caliber that can neutralize the opponent’s best WR. We should nevertheless have a very good defensive backfield, though. We can win big with them.
Will our offense play well enough to win big? ???

I’m thinking Avieon Terrell might be the guy that can neutralize the opponent’s best WR.

I’m still relieved we beat them. We played horrible throughout that whole game honestly. I’m not sure how so many fans on here was pumping so much sunshine after the bowl game.
That last drive was nice and Mafah played like a super star so I’m not taking anything away from his performance.
