Rest of the season predictions?

Oct 20, 2013, 10:33 AM

Well, at least Maryland should not present as much of a challenge next week with their two stud WRs done for the foreseeable future. Couple in the fact that CJ Brown may or may not play and I like our chances even playing as poorly as we have lately.

The following week UVA doesn't present as that much of a threat either, and we have a bye the week after. Barring a Thursday night loss at home to the Jackets, very possible if things don't improve quickly, we should find ourselves at 10-1 with BCS at-large implications at stake when we roll into the Roach.

I'm not trying to pump sunshine here on an otherwise cloudy day, just looking at today's landscape in the wake of last night's debacle.

And to all you alleged Tiger fans saying the season is over, would you prefer we just fold our tents and look forward to, gulp, basketball season?

We still have a chance to salvage this season and call it a success. All we have to do is take care of our business and take that dang Lamecock thumb and put it up where the sun don't shine.

I'll take a Sugar Bowl or other BCS bowl invite against the likes of an OSU or (insert 9-3 SEC team here) and still call it a successful season.

What say you Tiger nation?

If we finish 11-1, it won't mean a thing.***

There's something in these hills.

Good analysis but the fact remains that many people are concerned about our offense and the coaching of same. It looks like their defense knows what the heck play we're calling. Of course we do not fold the tent but to be perfectly candid, I question Morris and that system. I also question coach V who seems to be in love with the "prevent" defense.

If we string together wins against Maryland and UVA

Oct 20, 2013, 10:36 AM

then I think being at home on a Thursday night, we SHOULD beat Georgia Tech and of course the Citadel. USuC game is gonna be the tough one regardless. So either 10-2 or 11-1 (but hopefully 11-1... don't need to lose to them again)

You are assuming Miami or VaTech doesn't take the BCS

Oct 20, 2013, 10:37 AM

at large. Heck Tech's only loss is to number 1 Alabama and it wasn't 51-14. They had more total yards on offense. Take away special teams and it was a close game.

Either one would have to play FSU in the ACCCG

Oct 20, 2013, 10:41 AM

Miami would have to play them twice. So at best that team has two losses to our potential one.

no...

Oct 20, 2013, 10:38 AM

barring FSU meltdown, NC is gone, Conference championship is gone, leaving only USuCk game as only game that matters. I'm not saying to throw the rest of the games until USuCk, however, we can't progress from last year...I realize the bar was set high, but unfortunately it looks as though we needed to be perfect this season to progress, and we didn't...in crash and burn fashion, no less. That's just the way it is where it is liked or not. Will be rooting us on throughout but that is where we are.

I would call winning a BCS bowl game progress from last season..

I'm assuming there's no way the Miami and VT teams I've been watching this year can hang with FSU, although stranger things have happened before I guess.

Must beat Scar....period.

Oct 20, 2013, 10:49 AM

Last year we lost to FSU and Scar. Regardless of what bowl we end up in, if we beat Scar and beat the folks we should beat, this season will be better than last. Lose to Scar and it will be worse....can't stand losing to your rival 5 in a row. Bowl is icing on the cake...won't matter if we lose to Scar.

Re: no...

Oct 20, 2013, 10:50 AM

Wrong. We can still beat South Carolina, earn a BCS at-large, and win a BCS bowl if things improve. I'm not saying this will happen, but it's what we're playing for and if, big if, all those things happened I would see it as progression. We have never won a BCS bowl so how is that not improvement?

Thinking 10-3

Oct 20, 2013, 10:55 AM

Either run the table, then lose to SC by 20, then get plowed in bowl,

Or drop a head scratcher, lose to SC, then win a meaningless lower tier bowl and feel all better.

Sorry, but that is how I feel today.

Maybe ask me again tomorrow.

GO TIGERS!!

If we have 1 loss at the end of the season, we will get a BCS bid, no doubt about it. Miami and VT would not outrank us, period.

I think we can certainly salvage our season, and yes the sun actually came up today. It sucks to be out of the ACC and NC picture, but still a lot on the line, including breaking the losing streak to SC.

I still have some faith in the staff, but I need them to beat SC. The state of the program is still better than the last 30 years, can't be too mad at that. We were in the discussion for a title, haven't been there in a LONG time.
