I started attending Clemson FB games in 1959 while in HS. I have lived through three great Clemson coaching legends. Frank Howard, Danny Ford, and Dabo Swinney. All Alabama natives. Since I am now a senior citizen Clemson Alumnus, 80 yoa, it looks like I will have started Clemson FB fandom with Frank Howard and will end it with Dabo. I think all three Alabama "boys" were and are great, but my favorite was and still is Danny.
So, I hope you enjoy this look back at my favorite Clemson Hall Of Famer Coach. Danny Ford.

Reading the title I thought something happened to Coach Ford! whew...
My Dad was a '59 grad. I always make the effort to go past Sirrine to see his name on the sidewalk.

No worries. I just spoke with Danny last week. He was tired but doing good. Working hard on the farm.

Great stuff. I was at that game in the old orange bowl. At the end of the game Our band played the song Celebration and all our fans celebrated big time in the stands. Danny and Dabo share my choice. I met Danny several times and he was a very humble likable fellow. He was the same no matter who he was talking with. His players dearly loved him. He prepared his teams much like Bear Bryant. His team would hurt you on the field with their physical play. The leadership at Clemson set our program back many years when they let him go. I feel much the same about Dabo. When Dabo retires or leaves we will probably wander in the wilderness before we can once again find that perfect match for Clemson. I’m age 76 and hope Dabo is our coach when I’m put in my orange coffin. 😁

I was at the Orange Bowl that night. It was glorious. What a year. We also went to New Orleans for the Tulane game (drove down in a motorhome). A year to remember. Loved Danny Ford.

I was 17 years old in 1981 and we went to all of the football games that season. We normally went to some away games each season but for some reason we went to all of them that year. It was a great year to make it to all of them!

We are fortunate Coach Ford makes an appearance every few years, and Coach is always a popular guest and speaker. Robbie Caldwell also visited early this season and was well received. Nice to break up the UGA/SEC train in terms of quality guest speakers (David Pollack, Dari Nowkhah, Mark Schlabach, Jim Donnan, and Houston Nutt) this year. https://savqbclub.com/speakers-past-%26-present

Love Coach Ford and really dislike how this headline was written. Scared me for a moment.

I had no idea that the headline would imply bad news. I thought that with reg. FB season over with and bowl games upcoming as well as playing for the natty, it would be a good time for us to "remember " a great Clemson coach, Danny Ford, who for some reason is rarely mentioned or remembered w By the sports media.
