Regardless of the outcome tonight, was this a successful season?

Pros: ACC champs, at least 10 wins, 7-1 in the ‘she, made the CFP.
Cons: Bad losses, obvious weaknesses never addressed whether we won or lost, inexplicable losses to Louisville and the coots.

And I think we can have magical seasons where we make a run, but we will not be a perennial power anymore unless we are out of the ACC.

Alumni bases. It’s about who Dabo hires, and our expectations should be higher.

All do respect and love ya poppa G, but eff that.
If that's the case let's cut coaching salary by 40% and lower ticket prices, IPTAY dues etc.
We paying for CFP Semi salaries but need to lower expectations to falling into conference championship games, losing to Sakerlina at home, and getting pushed around by any team with a pulse? Naw man...

Agree. If we’d beat SCar, then I’d say yes.

Syracuse may have saved a few folks jobs by getting us into the ACCCG.
Can’t expect to win the Natty every year. Reasonable to expect to get in a 12 team playoff.

We got into the ACCCG by pure luck.
We lost to an inferior USC.
We got outcoached in multiple games.
We showed no development or improvement over the season.
This season wasn’t about the portal, it was about a sub-par nepotistic coaching staff biting us bigly in glaring ways. Big disappointment.

We don’t play many teams with talent anywhere near what we have. It’s not as lopsided as it once was, but it’s still pretty lopsided in the ACC… for now.

Nossir, we did not improve.
And the comparison with last season you are making is as much about the ACC regressing as us improving.

I mean, we are, right?
If we beat Scar, I would have given this season a solid A. it was close. A minus, but within expectations. Maybe I am tainted by the last few years, but I do not think we should expect us to be top 4 every year.

Examine how it has or hasn’t been coached and developed.
Winning the ACC and making it to this game wasn’t so much Dabo taking the Pittsburgh Pirates to the World Series as much as losing this game was Dabo losing the ALDS with the Yankees.

As a comparison.
DEs over achieved, considering ya know, we basically have 1.
Conversely, track the progression of Barrett Carter over 3 years. No wonder Mukuba left

If we want to compete at the top level the Wes Goodwin DC era has to come to an end. I think Dabo fully gets that now and will do what is necessary...

A- grade. A big step up from last season - won ACC, made playoffs

that's successful by ANY measure. And should always be. Don't be that spoiled.
Offense came back to life even with injured RBs and O line.
But......
Losing to the Chickens and Louisville was unacceptable. And the terrible defensive lapses also. Gotta deduct success points on that.

Conference champions and made it to the playoffs. That seems at least somewhat successful.

a successful season. It was also a season of missed opportunities. Such is life. I am optimistic about next year, moreso than in recent years. It all depends on whether we get a top flight DC. In my clouded mind, at least, a change HAS to be made at DC. But, Dabo has not consulted me yet.

A 10-win conference champion that made the CFP is a success in the eyes of the national public-at-large. Sadly, it was not a successful season for a spoiled fanbase that pays attention to all the little details that go on behind the curtain.

1 win opener ? Nope 2 win division? I guess barely? 3 win state? Nope 4 win conf? Yes 5 win last game? Nope
The worst loss IMO was Louisville. Come out looking like that, at home, after a bye week, under the lights....
I think it's a lipstick on a pig. Favorable for the history books but watching the games and being here will tell a different story.
I'm optimistic it forces change. Maybe we watch Dabos rebirth in the new era. Still a window to do it his way, but you gotta be a disciplined hard nosed football team and we just aren't that right now.
