I generally think Ron Morris is an idiot but he hit the nail

Aug 10, 2012, 12:47 PM

on the head with this:

http://www.thestate.com/2012/08/10/2393450/morris-usc-can-learn-from-mcevoy.html

It's not even about the law itself, it's the fact that he broke a law and wasn't punished.

Also, coaches can't make value judgments with which laws they're going to enforce--that's what our legal system exists for. The kid broke the "rules" and he should've faced the music.

I wonder who e-mailed Spurrier's comments to Laura Hudson?

Aug 10, 2012, 1:14 PM

;)

MoRon is absolutely right about one thing; there was NOTHING misunderstood about Spurrier’s comments. Spurrier made his thoughts o n the matter abundantly clear.

Ray Tanner's support of his coach was pure BS.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Agree. Tanner's comments show he might not be good AD

Has he set a precident for other student athletes? You didn't punish McEvoy - why are you punishing me?

Or maybe USuC plans to move the roost closer to 5 Points.

It just me or does McEvoy look like Andy Samberg in that pic***

When asked by a cop if you have been drinking,

Aug 10, 2012, 2:21 PM

saying "Yes sir, I had one, maybe two" is not a good answer. The cop is thinking "so you are not drunk but you don't remember how many you had: one or two?"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, when you throw that "maybe two" on there - it's a

good indication you're not getting the truth.

I don't know if McEvoy actually said that or not...

Morris better watch out, Spurrier will pitch another fit.***

Regardless, any 18-year old has the ability to get a beer.

Aug 10, 2012, 3:16 PM

The Age limit of 21 is joke. We are the only country with the legal drinking age of 21. Canada, Mexico, and the UK the legal dring age is 18. At 18 years of age, one is legally an adult. If your able to die for country, one should cetainly be able to buy alcohol. I know many may not agree with that, but that is my opinion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed ...

Aug 10, 2012, 6:45 PM

... the MADD representative made the comment in the article that alcohol is bad for developing minds and bodies which is true.

But, bullets and bombs are a lot worse for developing minds and bodies.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is not the point. Point is Spurrier hypocricy.

Aug 10, 2012, 8:13 PM [ in reply to Regardless, any 18-year old has the ability to get a beer. ]

He has a PSA telling kids that underage drinking is against the law.

Now he says Kids will be kids.

What is Spurrier telling young kids (and student athletes): it is okay to break the law!?!?!

We need authority figures to set an example. Follow the law or fix the law.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree, and I should know

Aug 10, 2012, 11:47 PM [ in reply to Regardless, any 18-year old has the ability to get a beer. ]

because when I was 18 in this state (SC), I could buy a beer. I went into the Army and we had "beer gardens" where young soldiers could drink beer on post. Yes, there were Sergeants and MPs to take care of the very few idiots, but the great majority of us did ok.
