I know we had some commentary about Brad grabbing Girard, but this is insane.

Oats should have been ejected and later fined by the conference. That all 3 officials watched it happen and did nothing is crazy.

Oates is a thug, just like his players. This guy needs to be suspended for a period of time by both the school and the conference....but if they didn't do anything last year with their thug players, they def. won't do anything this year.

A coach can not be allowed to lay hands on another teams players. Period. He wasn’t defending anyone and all three officials were right there.

I didn't see much there to be upset with, seriously? There are much bigger things to worry about.

I can’t believe we’re gonna justify a coach pushing another teams player. It needs to escalate. All three officials were right there. If Oats actions were justified where’s the technical on the mizzou player. Anyone dismissing this obviously wasn’t around when we celebrated Rick Barnes for absolutely losing his ####### mind when Dean Smith had the gall to even talk to one of his players.
I know some are gonna act like it’s “soft” to care about this. But it’s the opposite. Only because we’ve become soft and don’t believe in consequences. Nate Oats gets to play act as an alpha because everyone around him is a wimp. Probably longer ago than I like to admit, but in my time watching basketball there was a time that would have started a brawl.

What would have happened if the player had taken a swing at Oates? Would that have been okay since he put his hands on the player?

I have no idea how the league would handle it, but in real life you push someone and they hit you back you’re both getting charged.

That was my first thought--what would Rick Barnes have done? Coaches should not be untouchable when they are out of line.

I agree. Coaches have no right to put their hands on players--especially not another team's players.

So it’s totally okay for Coaches to push players from opposing teams? Just to be clear? Is it okay for an opposing player to push an opposing coach without repercussion? Because I see no difference. The coach isn’t a game official. And the player doesn’t play for the opposing coach and has no obligations to him or his employing university.
