While it is true that recruiting is the lifeblood of college football, it is also true that coaching and program culture matters. If the pursuit and idolizing of money is the main relational driver behind a college program's football culture then it is a foundation built on sand.
There is a fine line between being competitive in the college football landscape (i.e. NIL, facilities and other amenities) and being stupid. At times, Texas (and little brother Texas A&M) seem to have more money than brains and cross over into stupid. I guess we will see if those Texas schools can really buy a Championship in the coming years but I gotta feeling that if money and luxury are their main selling points they will be disappointed on their return on investment...
