Recruiting

Dec 12, 2012, 11:37 PM

Don't get me wrong, I think we recruit with the best of them. I will admit I've got a habit at looking at the ones we lost. Like any other tiger fan I want them all.

I know signing day has yet to come, but this year we've lost Nkemdiche and his mother, David Kamara (probably saved us a scholarship there), Eliah Daniels and now Demarcus Robinson. There could be more to come. That's a ton of commitments in one year no matter how your class ends up.

We lost out on several last year, these weren't actually committments but we were in the running until the end.

Keith Marshall
Todd Gurley (wow at what he has done this year)
Jonathon Bullard
I know there were others, but that's all I got right off the top of my head.

Of course Clowney was the year before last and look at him.

I wonder what the difference in this year is from a couple of years ago? Once again I know we have a strong class, but I want to land more and sure not lose any.

Wow you wonder if we just get Clowney and Gurly where out program would be. Prolly playing ND here in a few weeks.

Maybe if we had landed Ronald Darby too.***

The difference is that the ACC has gotten significantly

Dec 13, 2012, 6:56 AM

worse the past few years. Opposing recruiters are using the difference in strength between the SEC and the ACC against us. Now, they always have. But, now it's nearly impossible to refute. It does not help that this perception was recently reinforced by the Orange Bowl (ACC) taking a back seat regarding payouts to the Sugar Bowl (SEC/Big 12) and Rose Bowl (PAC and Big). And when the ACC rarely gets a team in the 4-team playoff, we will be relegated to 2nd class citizenship in the eyes of football recruits, forever.

We need to do better on the big stage period. The ACC may have that perception but Clemson needs to beat USC and handle LSU. When you go out there and play a good team and look bad it hurts. The ACC will never be as strong in totality. However we have some schools that can and should be better. Our coaches(offense) should have had a better game plan against USC. I hope they(coordinators) take a look in the mirror. This game will tell a lot about Venables and the Chad.

Winning cures everything...always has....

If we don't show up against LSU, the trend will continue.

And it appears , from our vantage point, that we aren't 110% focused.....hopefully I'm wrong.

One correction

Dec 13, 2012, 8:32 AM

we didn't lose Elijah Daniels, we stopped recruiting him! The others who knows what happened?

Things like this happen in the recruiting world all the time.

I look at it like this, losing Robinson opens up the door for North!!

Make it idjit proof and someone will make a better idjit.
