Realignment information. Presented FYI.

I take this guy more seriously than I do Swaim and others. But, I fall far short of taking everything he predicts as definitely going to happen. I am posting his video strictly for information and entertainment purposes.
TJ is the guy in the video. He set up this youtube channel (College Football Addiction) as a method of talking about realignment in general, not just FSU. His other youtube channel had been around a few years. It is called Double Fries No Slaw. It is an FSU website. So, he is inherently biased toward good things happening for FSU.
Here is the video.

A letter written by ACC commissioner may be revealed next week that essentially amended the original contract. It was done unilaterally without being signed by the ACC members. This being revealed will nullify the GOR and only make it enforceable under 2026. Big surprise coming this week!!!!

That would be great news. Maybe the reason Clemson isn't announcing leaving the ACC next month.

As many of us said many times, and that was that we believed that were something shady in the deals that Swofford made with ESCEPN, and if any of what this dude is saying is true, and I think that a lot of it is true, it would explain why Clemson has sued the ACC and that is bc they knew they hadn't signed any GOR that locked Clemson in a GOR deal until 2036 when the ACC were saying that we did, but the Clemson lawyers can't find anything stating that to be the truth and that is why they have motioned the court to have that signed contract that the ACC is saying that Clemson along with everybody else had signed to be opened in court but, that document do not exist, Booooom Yowwww, it was a bluff by the ACC commissioner and they weren't about to open all that back up as they said again, and it's bc they can't bc it never happened and there isn't a signed contract that holds ACC to a GOR until 2036. If true, the ACC and the commissioner are dead in the middle of chit creek without anything that could resemble a paddle...

ESECPN IS ONLY LOCKED IN through 2026, but the ACC schools are locked in through 2036! Stupid contract that will fall in court. Hopefully the ACC and ESECPN are negotiating a good deal, but don’t count on it! Clemson did the right thing going to court in Pickens!!
They speak hillbilly!

He always says 5000 words when fewer than 500 are needed for whatever information he is trying to convey. So I get it when anyone says they listen to him a lot. Today is no exception to the rule. He has not seen the letter. I hope such a letter exits as he says it does. I look forward to reading the letter.
Go Tigers!!

Bret - I often times see TigerNet as one of the referring sites to my realignment videos. Appreciate you sharing them so much. They're a lot of work to put together, and I try to distinguish when I'm speculating vs being told what's coming.
I'm glad to have beaten Swaim out in your ranking- if not, I'd likely have just quit altogether. Go Noles & appreciate you Tigers fans who have checked me out.
Let's bust out of this conference!!

I know you don't just throw wild speculation out there. I just see so much stuff out there that anytime I link any post I make sure, being overly cautious, that people don't think I am posting anything as "Take it to the bank and bet your house on it."
Notice my username. We have a lot in common.

At least till FSU and Clemson get into a P2 conference. Good site. Great fans who want to talk football, not smack.
David Hood has some good info on all things Clemson, including realignment.
You could probably get some material for you Addiction channel as well as Double Fries when you are talking specifically realignment and FSU and Clemson lawsuits.

Count me skeptical on this news. The idea that ESPN’s decision on the option clause requires an new/amended GoR to be executed has never been described before. That’s info unrelated to any action taken by Phillips to kick the option date down the road. There was already speculation that Phillips did that in violation of ACC bylaws and I don’t recall FSU or Clemson including that argument in their lawsuits as a means of declaring the current GoR effectively nullified. Perhaps this email discovery shows he did take that action unilaterally, but not sure that really has an impact on getting clear of the current GoR. However, I will pay attention to what gets disclosed this week.

If he doesn’t have the power to extend the notification date on the behalf of the members of the acc, then it absolutely would nullify any contract after that point. It doesn’t end the current GOR it just means it ends at the end of the current contract.
To me it always made more sense that the teams would have to resign the GOr and it ended in 2026 like the contract.

being independent agreements...but I believe they are inseparably intertwined due to the GoR explicitly referencing ESPN (rather than a more generic "broadcast provider"). So no ESPN = no GoR
At least that is my working assumption

Hey there, sorry for delay here. Busy day w/ Church and Olympics.
FSU did include it in their lawsuit -
89. For reasons never explained to FSU, the 2016 ACC Tier I Agreement gave ESPN a unilateral option to extend it an additional nine years beyond its expiration on June 30, 2027, or until 2036 (the “Unilateral ESPN Nine-Year Option”). This left the ACC unable to market its media rights for the period from 2027-2036 while getting nothing from ESPN in return.
Here's the link if needed, you'll see it's #89... https://news.fsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/198512536-Amended-Complaint-1.pdf
-- I'm not as well versed on Clemson's suit (not enough hours in the day, sorry, Tigers!) but I do think this will be a major sticking point that the ACC has no answer for.

Thanks. Way too complex a legal issue...
Jul 29, 2024, 9:34 AM
|
|
... for me to grasp.
Heck, I don't even understand the basic legal principle in question. I've heard more than one lawyer say this is a case over "intellectual property rights." Legally, I don't understand what "intellectual property" is involved.
At any rate, it does seem to my simple mind that the question is, "If a team leaves the conference does the ACC still own all TV revenue that team earns until 2036?"
A bevvy of lawyers who are a whole lot smarter than me are being paid megabucks to parse every word and punctuation mark of several contracts to convince a judge it means what they are interpreting it to mean and not what the other guys are interpreting it to me.
I agree with one guy at ACC media days. Seems like this could all be resolved if ESPN would tell us now, and not wait until next February, whether or not the are going to extend the contract to 2036.
Sure wish they would go ahead and say, "No extension. Contract ends in 2027."

I say that if this is true, it would mean that the ACC and the commissioner was actually trying to run a scam on FSU, Clemson, and all other ACC members by stating there was an GOR contract that run to 2036 trying make everyone think they were stuck in that chit deal until 2036 when it's only good to 2025-2026. Shame on the commissioner!!!

If the FL AG presents this info as reported, the ACC exit fee for FSU and Clemson should be waived based on damages and legal fees they have incurred to fight and expose a scam.
