Why go to all the trouble to do a military fly-by for a game at an indoor

stadium??

I've never understood that. The Thunderbirds made a big deal of it on their social media, but no one at the game could see it, except maybe on the big screen. At best, they may have heard it. And on TV they only showed it for literally about 2 seconds.

It's a literally awesome experience at an outdoor venue when you can see and hear them - and sometimes feel it! - but indoors? I don't get it. Why bother?

At least they didn't have the Golden Knights jump with the game ball. They'd have to land outside and come in through the gates like everyone else. Would've been kinda funny, though. Or land on the roof and then rappel down!

They fly F/A-18 Hornets.

They have gotten to do at least 3 flyovers that I know of.

A Chicago Bears game a few years back. They loved it. The Halas family had a sky box with everything catered for them. They said they could actually see the crowd energy/movement for a few seconds.

A couple of years later they did a Lions game.
Closed stadium, just a few minutes in the air. They said the stadium experience was y anything special.

They also did the flyby for the 2022 Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa. They said that one was so pound that they could actually hear the crowd cheering.
One of the big Bana donors invited them to her sky box and killed out all the stops. The pilots and ground crew included Clemson, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Arizona Stare fans. It didn't matter. The Bama people treated them very well.

I'm guessing that the Thunderbirds got to watch most of the Super Bowl live. Apparently that's the norm after flyovers.

I’m sure they get up every morning looking for something to “beech” about!

The drama of big sporting events is a big part of the show.
Touching the Rock is among the best pre game events in all of college sports and you don’t get the real affect if you are sitting home watching on the idiot box!

Go Tigers …. Be a big part of Tiger sports …. Attend the games …. Join IPTAY.
There is only one Clemson.

As someone already mentioned, the USAF Thunderbirds are home based about 7 miles away. To be honest I’d just be thankful they didn’t have Elvis in a banana hammock zip-lining the length of the field.

No idea. But I do know there was a full ground crew back at the base pissed off they had to be there to preflight, launch, recover and repair on Super Bowl Sunday.

The fly over is more for a recruiting tool than anything else. Plus it can also be used as a training flight for the pilots.
