Very Interesting question

Excluding QB, if you had the choice to pick 1 player in Clemson history to bring back for this particular next season of 2023 who would it be?
Lord knows the receivers need help, so Sammy Watkins. This was the best WR we’ve had that got most of his production AFTER the catch. Lightning speed, and remember all of the broken tackles like against UGA in 2013.
That would be the best guy for this certain team. A guy who can guarantee you after catch plays. The only big receiving plays we’ve had the last couple of years have mostly been deep shots. We haven’t really had any receivers make big plays after catch.
ETN was other option, but we’ve got 2 really good RBs.

Wow, tough choice. After last year, I am not sold on our backers so I am going with Anthony Simmons.

Etienne was a cut above both our other guys, but if you're pigeonholing us into a receiver because that's what we need, I'd have a hard time turning down Mike Williams, Sammy, Tee, Nuk, gosh even Hunter. He'd catch a hundred balls if we just threw to the guy who got separation. Rodgers was pretty clutch too.
Dwayne Allen was a cut above at TE.
Isaiah Simmons was the most special defender we've had in a while. We could line him up as a blitzing DE or put him in coverage against their WR1. We could've used him last year versus Rattler. That game still makes me physically ill.

Dwayne over Leggett? That’s a toughh one. I really couldn’t pick between the 2. But Leggett had 2 of the best plays I’ve seen by a TE. FSU TD in 2016, and the catch vs Bama before Renfrow TD.
With this certain team though, it doesn’t matter who’s picked, but it’s just they lack WR play. Hard to go with a defensive player when we’re pretty set this year.
But Simmons could do much better than Phillips. And alongside Mukuba… That’s a scary sight for QBs lol.

Mike Williams making catches like he did in the National Championship Game. Or, Nuke Hopkins, the best receiver in the NFL.

It's Sammy Watkins, Mike Williams, or Tee Higgins for me. Any of those 3. In college they were feared and required defenses to gameplan for them.

Has to be a WR or TE.
Biggest need is WR.
Other than looking at biggest need, to get a difference maker, ETN.

It’s surprisingly difficult to deny Renfrow. He was the most secure target on 3rd down as I can remember. Not just that, he toasted Alabama’s top DBs multiple times. Most noticeably Minkah Fitzpatrick who is a stellar NFL DB. As well as..the South Carolina TD Kelly Bryant where he showed ability to get through a whole defense after the catch. Not a bad choice.

If you are focusing on receiving.....
Mike Williams in for Beaux Collins.
Sammy Watkins in for Adam Randall.
I would constantly rotate Jacoby Ford and Antonio Williams. I think I would see a few opposing coaches break down and cry with this kind of group.

But you’ve also got Tee Higgins. Even Derrick Hamilton, Avery Youngblood, Aaron Kelly, Rod Gardner, Perry Tuttle, Dwight Clark, and so on.
If you had to rotate between Williams and Ford then yes, but I’d leave Jacoby out there all the time instead of Williams. Antonio shows potential of greatness, but no one had speed like Ford. Even was slightly faster than Spiller.

Going to have to go with Hyatt if OL. I figure our RBs are strong enough to get short yardage without incredible guard blocking. Cade having that amount of time that Hyatt gave DW and TL would be great. Also given that Cade’s play style is similar to DW as well.

Watson beat a Bama team that was better than Clemson at 15+ positions. And beat SCU 4 in a row after 5 in a row from SCU.
