Tweaking a few things before CFP 2024

Here is what the 12 team CFP is currently supposed to look like.

The five highest ranked conference champions will get an auto-bid, and the four highest ranked conference champions will get the top four seeds and a bye to the quarterfinals.

Well, first of all there are only 4 power conferences now, so let's change the above to give the Power 4 conference champions automatic bids and 1st round byes. That way there is no question about biased polls, etc.

Then the next 8 highest ranked teams can play each other to see who gets the chance to displace the top 4 on the field. There will be some arguments about who is ranked 11, 12, 13, 14 - but they will be weak arguments compared to what we have now.

So, using the top 25 from tis year's final CFP - Michigan, Texas, Bama, & FSU would get auto bids and 1st round byes. (Washington will be in the Big 10 next year so their conference championship doesn't count.)

Then we would have Washington vs Oklahoma (winner plays FSU)
Georgia vs Ole Miss (winner Plays Bama)
Ohio State vs Penn State (winner plays Texas)
Oregon vs Missouri (winner plays Michigan)

This is going to be an exciting CFP format and whoever wants to claim the national championship will have no reason to complain. I wonder what all of the sports pundits will find to argue about in December ??

At least two of the last four in will be $EC, so there will still be bias and arguments.

They will complain that you shouldn't have to be a Conf Champ to get a bye. It should be 4 best teams.

Who is ranking the teams? Same dumb ### crooked bunch that picked the final 4 today? If do, it will still be a SEC/BIG PLAYOFF.
