Trying to settle an argument

They’re all still a little sore from the last time we played and aren’t the biggest Dabo fans. They’re saying Alabama never even contacted Swinney but I saw multiple articles Friday that said they called and he turned them down immediately. Does anyone know what actually happened because I could’ve sworn they called and he rejected the offer. Now I can’t find anything that says they actually called. Wish me luck because these bama fans have thicker skulls than the coots.

You won't find much. David made a post here saying that they contacted. I think Tiger Illustrated said something similar. Sounds to me like Swinney just was not interested at all in having any kind of prolonged talks about it. For national outlets, there's nothing newsworthy there. For us, it means we have our coach until he retires.

I hope you are right but my fear is Bama keeps firing coaches bc they are not saban. It turns into a dumpster fire and Dabo goes there to try and be the savior.

I believe Dabo when he said: “I was always an Alabama boy, but now I am a Clemson Man.”He is not going anywhere. I honestly believe he will retire from Clemson and the program he built there. Clemson is his home now and he has “bloomed where he was planted.”

What I'd like to know is how many times Dabo has said 'NO,' when...

he's given job opportunities. I'm positive he's said no to Bama enough times in the past to discourage and dissuade them from offering him.

What the people who are worried about Dabo going to Bama should be concerned with is the next time Bama loses a HC.

I suspect that new guy might last three or four years. He's had a good run so far but he has never played against the competition in the Southeast at this level.

No, Bama knew Dabo's answer long before Nik retired.

Agreed, and I'm curious if he's turned down NFL opportunities. I'm almost positive he's been approached.

While I have many colleagues who are bama grads or long family ties, I just sit back and enjoy knowing we got their next Goat! To beat the band, "he's a bama boy, but now a Clemson man". You know that statement alone just eats them alive.

Silence is deafening. Dabo did what a person of humility and respect for his former alma mater should have done, not what the masses want him to do.

I feel like Alabama contacted him, but only to leave the door open down the road. If so, smart move not to burn a bridge this early. I do think Dabo is 100% Clemson though.
